I hunt on the mountains and for about 20 years I have used 6x42 Steel Swarovski with German #4 reticle on my two rifles.
No complaints about it, but I wanted to try out a Leupold, to slightly increase my range (longer shot taken was about 350 meters) and just bought a VX-III 3,5-10 x 40 with...
OT
John,
it depends which part of Tuscany you will be in.
Roughly, I would say something near 3 to 4 hours by car.
I live close to the lake of Como (15 minutes from Lecco) up in the mountains.
PM me.
Cheers Bluejay
I think so too.
You are probably much better off by buying them in the States.
Plus, Germany is a very expensive country (well, they have high salary though  )
Bluejay
John,
a buddy of mine has the same scope with the TDS 4 reticle and I can already tell you you won't regret you bought it.
The scope has no downside, and it also acquires the "click adjustment" very easily, unlike the old Swarovski, which needed a box of ammo to be zeroed evry time you...
Actually, there is Swarovski who offers their Z6 line with a 1:6 Magnification ratio.
Go here for a peek :

Awesome scopes, but darn expensive
Although they are top notch optics, the very bad price to quality ratio make them very...
R Flowers,
are you sure the scope comes with a CD ?
Haven't found it in the box.
Apart form the scope  there were only the two manuals (the scope's and the Ballistic reticle's)
I decided to put this scope on my Blaser K95 in 6,5x57R Mauser, as I think it...
I forgot to state that I am going to "switch" this new scope with my old one and thus I am going to use the existing mount I have, which is a blaser dedicated system (very nice, believe me) and I only need to undo the four torx bolts at the top end of the rings, take the old scope off and put...
Thank you all for your valuable comments, which have helped me to decide.
I have gone for the 3,5-10 x40 with the B & C and finally got it.
I needed a slim and lightweight scope and this model suits my rifle, which is a very slim single-shot break open.
As far as maximum power (10x) I believe...
Thanks to all for your useful comments.
At this point the "scale" is really pending towards the 3.5x10.
A buddy of mine lent me his VX-II 4-12 x 40 AO to fool with and compare it to my Swarovski 6 x 42 and let me tell you.....this Leupold is a hell of a scope. I made a comparision at dusk with...
Thanks a bunch for all your quick replies.
I forgot to mention two important "pillars" I need to stick two in doing my choice :
1. Wanto to stick to a 1" tube because I'd like to be able to use my current mount on my Remington and additionally I may swap this scope onto my K95 Blaser rifle in...
Hi Gents,
I am about to buy a new riflescope for my Remington 700 BDL in .270 Winchester cal.
I have pretty much narrowed down my choices to two models.
VX-III 3.5-10 x 40 with Boone & Crockett Reticle
VX-III 4.5-14 x 40 with Boone & Crockett Reticle
I hunt deer sized game only...
Thanks for your replies.
From your suggestions I think the best that suits my needs will be a single shot pistol, since more accurate at longer ranges.
What kind of group can a "Good Shot" make at 200 yds. for example?
What's the difference between the Contender and the Encore?
Which one of...
Hi Folks,
had this bug since quite a long time, that is to hunt with a handgun.
No experience at all, so I am pulling your jackets on the best set up (Caliber-Brand and model-Barrel length-Scope or no scope.....etc.).
Game up to deer size animal.
I'd be oriented to a .357 Mag...
Hello Gents,
I was thinking of buying a chronograph to get velocity data from my loads.
What do you guys think about the "CHRONY" brand.
In particular, I had my eyes either on the F-1 or ALPHA models.
Any feedback?
I need no printer, nor other fancy stuff.
Just going very...
Thank you ALL for the load of info.
Based on all the possibilities you have "lined up", I believe the one that fits my "case" would definitely be the "too low of a charge" issue.
I have tried heavier loads and had not noticed this problem anymore.
Will proceed on this direction.
Appreciate...
Got some strange results from my last 7x64 test and have no idea why.
On some loads (and not the maximum ones), I got the primers "emerging" from the primer socket.
Is this a sign for high pressure?
What else could it be?
I am using RWS brass, Vihtavuori N140 powder and Sierra Gameking BT 150...
An unfortunate and quite strange event happened to me last Saturday at the range.
Been shooting my Rem.700 BDL with my usual and long-time tested .270 Win load (Norma brass - Norma 204 Powder and Nosler BT 130 grs.).
I think brass was a 2nd time shooter, being inspected as usual and loaded with...
Been testing a load for sometime now.
Shot @ 110 yds., 200 yds. and now gave it a try @ 330 yds.
Here's my gear:
Blaser K95 single shot rifle in 6,5x57R cal.
6x by 42mm. Swarovski scope with a German 4 ret. (thin crosshair covers approx. .87" @ 200 yds.)
RWS brass
Norma 204 Powder
Federal...
Mark,
I'll second what Ol' Joe said, as I believe either the 125 Nosler PT or 129 Hornady will do a good job for both WT Deer and Elk.
I think the 140 grs. is good for short range (within 200 yds.).
Even though I do not own a 6,5 SWE, I have experience with the EU 6,5x57(R) Mauser...
I do not own one, but I know the gun. Many hunters here in EU use this straight pull rifle...
What were your questions?
If I can help....
Cheers
