I acquired this scope a few days ago, in the 4-16x42 wSF configuration. I know next to nothing on the repeatability, reliability, functionality of this line of scopes. I do know the glass is very good, as I've put it in the VX3, Elite 4200, Conquest class.
I've pretty extensive use of the...
2006 Sonora, MX. 7mmRM and 160 Nosler Partition. We were in the back of the old F150 in a high rack, a very common way to hunt down there so you can see over and into the dense brush. After a while of doing this, on opening morning, a big buck busted out of the brush and crossed the road in...
I have 3 of the 3.5-10x40 VX3's with CDS. They are very versatile IMO:
You can get a custom yardage dial, load specific, or you can get a CDS dial made up in MOA. This will allow you to use the MOA dial with any load. Also, you can get the dials with or without a zero stop. All of mine are...
Sounds like an excellent plan to me as well. I bought my son a Tikka T3 years ago. He killed lots of deer and aoudad with 140's. I liked the caliber so much I recently bought one myself, the Nosler Patriot version. To say it shoots lights out is an understatement, with 120 BT's, 140 AB's...
Agree 100%. I've had the Meopta HD side by side on a tripod with my SLC HD's, both in 10x42. Meopta's more than hold their own so I kept them. They are rock solidly built as well. The best sleeper glass, very hard to find, IMO, is the Gold Ring HD.
While not the 8x42's, I've been using the Meopta 10x42HD's for about 1.5 yrs now. I find them to be fantastic optically, build quality, and if something ever goes wrong you can get them repaired or replaced right here in the USA (NY location). I had them side by side with my SLC HD's for about...
Got her on paper, then fiddled around with some charges, seating depths, etc. After fiddling around with it for the past few days, it's seemed to settle into this range of charges. The details:
140 accubond
2.800 COAL
Nosler brass
Big Game
Fed 215M primers (experience in other 7-08's with Big...
Got the rifle in house, put together, now I'm very anxious to see if I can duplicate those targets referred to earlier. If it shoots as good as it looks and handles I'm in business!
Rem Jim, I have lapped Talley LW's on an HCR 7mag and really like them as well. Leupy DD's are rock solid as well, and as you probably know, the Burris Sig rings have an insert that will square that scope up perfectly, without need to lap. I will respectfully disagree on the 3.5-10x not having...
