WOW look at the horns on that ram!!!! I looked at the desert big horns as the physical toughness of the hunt looked inspiring to me , the terrain in your photos though doesn't look like a walk in the park either.
I mostly get my enjoyment hunting for the reward of doing something others don't...
Thanks Guy, the estimates I'd heard had been in the $20000-$25000 range but at $50000 I have to say this will remain a dream for me. However I will keep dreaming and may 1 day come to hunt those beautiful elk instead
Thanks for the feed back, as i said it's a long term dream at the moment but $50000 sure puts some reality into it!!! If I was to enter the draw( if I can as a foreigner) and be lucky enough to draw a tag do you then contact an outfitter? Please forgive my ignorance to your system as I am very...
I have the 300 win mag, swarvo z3 3-10×42 scope and just bought a pair of 10x42 SLC swarovski binos for hunting red deer here in Queensland, so not concerned with those, but will I need a spotting scope? Have tried to keep fit all my life but do you need to be ultra marathon fit and we live...
Ok please excuse my ignorance and forgive the question because the dream is now but the reality is well in the future!
How does an Aussie go about hunting desert big horns?, I've been watching you tube and the hard work, both physical and mental look like a true challenge.
What would you be...
That was my reasoning, I figured I'd be in a situation at some point where I'd have wished I'd bought the better glass then I would have been buying them not long after, so money on the credit card and pay it off while enjoying quality gear now
Well it's red deer hunting time here in Queensland, and unfortunately it's also very busy for me and can't get out for another week, but I was in need of upgrading my 10x25 celestron binos. I looked at every pair of binoculars I could get me hands on, both in shops and at mates houses. My budget...
That was my justification for spending the extra dollars, I know leupold make great scopes but even during mid morning looking through the Z3 gave an exceptionally clear picture but the vx3(they didn't have a 3i) had a real heat shimmer effect going on after focusing.
How does the leupold go at first and last light, I know you guys are somewhat limited with legal hunting hours but out here if you can see em you can hunt em. If you can get 20 or 30 minutes more hunting time with a swarovski then great but if the difference is only 3 to 5 minutes then I can't...
They did it as a special run in 2012, someone paid a deposit on the rifle and didn't come back for it in 3 years so it went back on the market. I was thinking a 1.5-5x leupold vx3i but have heard very little about them, clear, sharp, good light transfer? so asking you guys for some assistance.
I have been looking at the vx3i and wondered how they compare to the z3 but depending on who you ask the responses are wildly different. I am thinking of just getting a leupold and if it's not up to par just putting it on my pig gun
Have just bought 2 nee rifles a Remington 700 XCR 300WM and a CDL 375H&H, I have a couple of swarovski z3 on my 30 06 and 338 06, I was just looking at what other options are out there for scoping these 2 rifles, I don't want to go to high mounts so it will have to be 40 - 44 objective on the...
I can honestly say it was the greatest hunting experience I have ever had. The south African people were great blokes, and very easy to get along with. When I go back it will definitely be with these guys.
