    45/70 Gov't - 350GR Hornady F.P Interlock (on African game)

Depends on the game animal hunted. If deer, then the Hornady. If elk, moose and grizz then the Speer (for the deeper penetration). But I'm sure the Hornady would do a fine job also.

    45/70 Gov't - 350GR Hornady F.P Interlock (on African game)

My experience differs from yours. This year I went on the same safari for approx the same species with the same rifle. The only difference was instead of the 350gr Hornady, I loaded the 350gr Speer. The end result was zero recovered bullets (all clean pass throughs). All game animals still...

Re 350gr Speer Two years ago I took my 45/70 loaded with Hornady 350 FP to africa for a plain games safari. I recovered a handful huge hornady mushrooms under the skin on the offside of various PG animals. Last year I went back and decided I would like to have some Speer 350 FP mushrooms for...

180gr Win Power Point VS. African Plains Game and Red Stag

The 180gr cup and core bullet has probably been responsible for more big game kills than any other bullet (save the 170gr from the .30-30).

180gr Win Power Point VS. African Plains Game and Red Stag

Gerry, Agreed. I'm a fan of using standard cup and core bullets in non-magnums. Just don't think they're required, unless hunting DG. This is the only bullet I will use in my '06. Averaging about 75% weight retention in my experience, it would make a great elk and even moose bullet.

180gr Win Power Point VS. African Plains Game and Red Stag

These bullets were recovered from Eland, Oryx and Red Stag. Impact ranges were from 30 to 70 yards. All shots were broadside in the heart lung area. Bullets recovered from the Oryx and Red Stag were recovered right under the hide on off side (bulges were noticeable). However they didn't quite...
