Need has nothing to do with it! ;)
Stop wrestling and take advantage of the opportunity before it is gone and you spend years kicking yourself for not doing it!
More people regret things they didn't do; don't be one of those people!
You want it is sufficient and you don't need to...
What scope are you using?
I have a Burris Veracity 3-15x50 Ballistic E1 FFP
So far am I am impressed with the glass...but still have to learn to use the reticle at distance. (Zeroed at 50 yards.)
I am really enjoying mine so far! So nice to find a LH bolt action 22LR! Heavy for hunting, unless set up over a prairie dog town, but a lot of fun at the range!
Have only done load testing out to 50 yards with 11 different types of ammo...will be working out at 100 yards next to see if the...
And that is exactly why I stick with my 7MM STW. (And I bought it for rifle - LH Sako AV - not the chambering, as I was very happy with the 7mm Rem Mag performance - I sold it as it was RH Rem 700 LSS and I was trying to replace the rifle with the same model in LH and couldn't get one at the...
Really depends on your current need and priorities...
Money is not so easy come, way too easy go...and yet we all seem to get more over time (at least when we have a reliable income!)
Can be harder for some, but many times it is probably better to put the money in the gun safe and over time you...
Being a semi, in a heavier rifle model should help tame felt recoil of the 300 WSM for her to a degree.
But if she finds the felt recoil still a little stout, you can replace the recoil pad with a LimbSaver to make it even better.
If she feels that it is still a little too much of a good...
My two current Leupold 2-7s are the VX-R versions, so have the click adjustment. We will see how they perform over the longterm on my BLR in 358 Win and Marlin 375S.
Have used the VX-3 1.5-5s, 1.75-6s and 2.5-8s on lever actions over the years with great results...3 2.5-8s are on my Model 88s...
Anyone know where they rate in the scale for performance?
Are they "hotter" than say CCI, Winchester, or Federal (F215 being known to produce the highest ignition and why they are used for the Wby cartridges)?
I have to say that I absolutely hate the noise and buffeting produced by muzzle brakes and will not use one on my rifles!
I had a Sako 300 Win Mag back in my early 20's that was Magna-Ported and the extra noise caused me to flinch...something that I still have to work on every year when I start...
Regardless of caliber and weight, AccuBonds just plain work!
Easy to work up loads for, consistent accuracy, and excellent on-game performance!
Can't ask for much more than that!
The only variance I can report from what others have experienced, is that all of the recovered AccuBonds that I have...
My wife really liked shooting my LH X Bolt in 6.5 Creedmoor, and after harvesting her Arapawa rams in New Zealand with it, bought herself a LH X Bolt Hunter in 6.5 CM when she found one on sale.
As much as she liked her 7mm-08, she prefers her 6.5 CM due to the reduced recoil. I also like the...
If it ain't broke, don't "fix it"...
You're already set up for the STW and if you enjoyed it and it worked well for you, then stay the course!
BUT, if you got the itch and "need" to scratch it by going a different route...then you better do it, or you'll always be going "I shoulda..." in the...
Old thread revival!
I have used the 260 AB in mm 376 Steyr on elk and bison; did a great job!
The 250 AB flattened a young bull moose with authority!
Both great bullets! Will continue using both of these...just need more hunts with both rifles! Would love to use either one on an eland!:D
Looks like you had an awesome adventure!
We were in the Eastern Cape a few of weeks ago (see 2024 Hunting thread) for 8 days. We hunted 7 different concessions on our trip for 7 animals, taking two on one property (bushbuck and kudu), and two on another (impala and nyala). Definitely a target...
My grizzly in 1998 fell in a depression too!
We were mountain goat hunting and surprised the bear at 20 yards. He ran to 40, then turned and slowly came back towards us.
First frontal shot was in the spine (shoulder hump) at 8 yards, as his head was down in front of his vitals.
A moment later he...
You'll want to keep in mind that most SAAMI loads for the 6.5x55 are kept to the lower pressures for the older Scandinavian military rifles (e.g. normal velocities for a 140 gr bullet kept to approx 2650 fps), whereas the pressures used for modern firearms are higher (e.g. velocities for a 140...
