    New Vintage Woods Rifle

That sucker is pretty cool. I tried the pic rail on mine but the darn thing was too tight for my fingers to load it. So I went two piece on mine.

    270 win browning ABolt 1 150ab suggestions

I’d start .050 off with the 7828 or 4831. Whichever you have the most of. 7828 and Magpro will get you 2900+ with 150’s.

Picked up a couple of new rifles this weekend

The 95 grain BT and Hornady 105 HPBT are workhorses for me in 6mms. Anything from H4350 in speed up to IMR7828 or similar is darned good. You’ll like that 8 twist 243. The 108 ELDs are pretty serious in the 6 ARC. Very easy accurate and they fly well.

Can bullet weight alone make a big difference in precision, or powder?

ETips and Sciroccos are the two bullets that either shoot or don’t. No amount of goofing around will make my rifles like them if they don’t show a little promise from the get go.

    Mixed powder

As long as it mixed decent I don’t sweat it. I mix up partials quite a lot.

    Savage 30-30

ET, instead of paint, try using a BIC lighter to carbon up that front sight. That matte black is nice for shooting paper.

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

I think I have the same carbine as you. I got mine from Kittery Trading Post a few years ago. Glad you got a load sorted out. I’m using H4895 and the 225 Sierra in mine. When those guns are good, they act like good bolt guns.

Favorite bullets and powders for the 358 Win? Crimp?

H4198 will work great with 200’s Dan. I used a lot of IMR with Hornady 200’s when I first got mine. My favorite bullet is the 225 Sierra GK. For deer it opens very nicely and is accurate. My opinion but the PT was a bit too tough for deer but they work fine. If you’re just shooting deer the...

Loading Hodgdon 4831SC & Want to Load H-4831

I’d agree with Phil. Drop a couple grains and work back to desired speed. I’m guessing you’ll likely end up in nearly the same spot give or take a grain.

    Seating depth value

I’ll start a cup and core at .010 off and anything bonded or mono get .050 right out of the gate. 99% of the time I know I’m going to get shorter for best accuracy.
