Thanks Joe. I have both of those. I’m going to try one more range session with H4831SC then I’ll back up and regroup. As it sits now, it’s not horrible but I think it could be a touch better.
Agreed, just my practice but ball powders usually work better with magnums for me. Not saying it’s a rule but they seem to be more consistent overall.
Nice work on the 270. That’s great stuff and now you got me looking for Grand.
That’s pretty interesting. I’ve been working with H4831SC quite a bit in my current 270 with 130 Speer HCs and Nosler PTs. Speeds fine at 3120’ish for both but getting knot hole sorta groups has been evading me. Sitting around 1.25” or so for 5 so I may try some IMR4831 instead.
I have had a few of them over the years. My current one is a Kimber Montana I haven’t mounted a scope on yet but I agree. It is one of the best 30 caliber magnums going in my book. Accurate and not such a hard kicker you can’t house it in a lighter rifle.
Very cool. I just started shooting the Sierra 65 grain GK in my Montana 223. So far it’s accurate and runs about 3190.
Those little bullets are pretty tough for what they are.
My only gripe is the ejection port on the short actions is about a 1/2” short. The stock cut that is, not the actual metal. My 6.5 PRC AAA has the same silly deal on it. If you find some pics on Gunbroker you’ll see what I mean. The long actions are spot on.
