I tested 130 gr BT's in 270 win against 130 gr CT's out to 500 yards. The only difference I saw was that at 500 yards the BT's dropped 3 inches more then the CT's. I cannot really see any difference across the chrono and I guess the coating makes them a little "slicker" thus the slightly less...
I am in the process of setting up to reload 25/06 and would like to trade or buy cases and bullets. I have a very, very large selection of bullets and cases in most other calibers to offer as trade if you are willing to do so. Would also be interested in the threaded 25/06 case that attaches to...
As always , thanks Dr. Mike.
Does anyone on the board have experience with the 147 gr ELDM in the 6.5 CM and do you get any benefit from the similar 140 gr pills? Any good recipes?
Thanks
Jimbeaux
Could one of our upstanding board members run a composite QL for me using 6.5 Creedmoor, 147 gr Hornady ELDM, Hornady cases, 24" barrel, GMM primers?
TIA
Jimbeaux
I have not chronoed his load, just going by what he told me. He could be mistaken on the velocity but he definitely wasn't pulling my leg. Said the load was so compressed he could barely seat the bullet and as stated before , was using Norma brass and throwing it away after one shot. Also...
Dr Mike,
thanks as always. I think this run will be sufficient to make the point I was trying to make. But on the Nolser site, it does show a 30 cal 168 gr ABLR with a G1=.525
Thanks
Jimbeaux
I was at the range yesterday and met a friend of mine shooting who started asking me some serious reloading questions. When he told me he was chronoing 3200 fps from a 30/06 with RL 22 and a 168 gr ABLR I almost had a heart attack. He was using Norma brass and throwing it away after 1 shot! I...
Thanks - that confirms to me it is a brass issue.
Dr Mike - thanks so much for your unceasing efforts and wisdom on this forum. This is the best handloading forum in existence thanks to your efforts and others like Scotty, Guy Miner, Fotis and so many others who share their knowledge and QL...
OK Dr Mike,
you have reawakened the engineer in me (retired engineer). Be prepared cause you may have created a little monster! Ha ha! So I took distilled water, opened and let it sit overnight to deoxygenate. I took 3 fired cases (FC, RP, PPU) and trimmed to 2.158". Filled with above mentioned...
I just crono'd my 243 yesterday, 22" barrel, 100 gr Hornady IL, 42.0 gr H4350, CCI 200, 60 deg day and got 2870 fps with sub moa groups at both 100 and 200 yds. Cases and primers looked great with no signs of pressure.
Would someone please run a Quickload for 6.5 x 55, 140 gr Ballistic Tip, VV N160 powder, 20" barrel, strong CZ550 action, CCI 200 primers?
As for case, I am using 3 different brands, Remington, PPU and Federal. I am getting occassional blown primers with the Federal cases but same load with the...
I rarely tumble bullets but it is a nice option to have when they are tarnished. Since no one else seems to have had this problem, I guess the scrape option is what I will have to go with.
I have a Frankford Tumbler (blue bowl) that I use to clean my brass as well as occassionally tumble bullets that have become tarnished. I use corn cobb media with Isso polish. I use Imperial sizing wax on my cases when sizing and tumble immediately after. Last week I tried to tumble some old...
