For magnum loads or velocities over 900fps a gas check will help prevent leading with cast bullets.
I try to keep my lead bullet loads around or just below 800fps. Most of my loads are for paper punching where accuracy is most important.
Can't believe all the times I drove past on the interstate and never knew it was there. I do need to make a road trip just because I need to see what's on hand.
Pig on the spit sounds good, I like pulled pork. That will make some good eating Fotis.
Fotis do you happen to know the difference in case capacity between the 338-06AI and the 338RPM?
Another shout out for good CS.
The store is about a 6hr drive from me but with Snow in the forecast I decided to order online instead of a 12hr round trip adventure.
One day I will visit the store front just because.
I didn't know they sold high quality .22lr ammo till I did an internet search...
This is the first time I have used them but used to get updated reloading info for my manuals which stopped years ago and I sort of miss that service but I'm sure it became a finacial burden over the years and was discontinued.
I have found most of the shooting industry to be very helpful and...
I nhave a RCBS/Ohaus 10-10-10 powder scale that I bought back in the 1970's and is my only powder scale so it has seen alot of use over the years.
I notice the little tab on the powder pan was getting flexable but just lived with it till it finally broke off. I thought no big deal I'll just use...
Rem brought it out to compete with the 243WW but put the wrong twist for the 244 in the barrel and it killed the sales since it wouldn't shoot all bullet wieghts well.
They changed the name to 6mm Rem and changed the twist rate but the damage was done.
I always wanted a 6mmRem but settled for...
A Elmer Keith style hard cast semi wad cutter in a revolver and a 68 H&G style in semi autos would be my first choice due to known performance on game animals from Bear to deer. If you can get the poly costed bullets to shoot accurately at 50yds they would be cleaner to reload. Semi wad cutters...
When I was around 12yrs old my sisters boy friend taught me how he was taught by the USN to sharpen a knife using a wet stone and spit. I soon learned I could get a sharper edge using oil. Then I discovered the Lansky sharpening system when I was in my late 20ys. I wore my first out a few years...
Weatherby adopted A-Square 338-06 drawings and built a few rifles but the ammo was all over the place as for specification and some would fit the chamber and some wouldn't which is probably why it is still a hand loading
only option to get ammo.
I was looking to buy one when I had my 35 Whelen...
First off congrats on a new rifle, secondly I would suggest a scope that has a known reputation for durability.
My one and only 300Wby ate scopes for breakfast lunch and dinner, that said stick something on it known to handle heavy recoil and vibration, vibration kills more scopes than anything.
Here's a thought that I'm not sure of but If I understand right the Constitution says that a Pres. candidate can't run for more than 2 consecutive terms but in his case, he failed in getting elected for a second term so I'm wondering if he gets a reset and can run for re-election after this term?
I've seen these on precision long range .22 rim fires for precision long range target shooting. Not something I would want to lug around on a hunting rifle.
