Couldn’t agree more Guy. If we could shave the population about 30% and get back to some middle of the road common sense this place would be heaven.
PS…My username has nothing to do with my political views🤣🤣
My load so don’t use it but work up to what’s good in your gun. In my Ruger No 1 6.5x55 IMR 4350 gets me 2640 fps with a 140 Partition using 44 grains. 43.5 grains gives me the same velocity with the Ballistic tip or Accubond. My gun is the international version with a short barrel so I’m...
Nicely done! I have guns that belonged to both Grandads and my Dad. Like you they will get out occasionally for a hunt here and there. It’s a great way to keep the memories going.
…and I’m done. 43 grains held 4 shots right at an inch, 43.5 opened up a bit and printed 1.5 inches higher. I cut my targets up and did an overlay of all my shots with 42, 42.5 and 43 grains. I threw out the farthest 2 shots and 14 hit within 1.2 inches with the different powder charges...
So I ran some H4895 today. 42.5 grains yielded a .63 inch group for 4 shots. 43 had 3 shots just a smidge tighter but the 4th shot opened up a bit and ran 40 fps faster for that final shot. Going back this weekend with some more at 43 and some at 43.5.
Thank you, very much appreciated. I figured I’d start with some H4895 today and see how they shoot. It’s a Tikka compact with a 20 inch barrel so I’m not expecting max speeds, just hoping for some decent accuracy.
Yup, I know this is a Nosler forum but sometimes you just stray a bit. Anyone have a Sierra manual they’d screenshot and post for the .308 Win using a 165 Sierra Game King bullet?
All of you should discontinue buying the blems, they are junk. Leave them on the shelves and I’ll take one for the team and buy them so you don’t have to experience buyers remorse🤣🤣🤣
I’m good with the restoration. I think it’s much better to give that rifle many more years worth of service then just sticking it in the cabinet for something to look at. I have several of my grandfathers older rifles that he hodgepodged together to make them fit his needs. While they have...
I think we got the same batch as King County. My buddy almost took his head off due to that issue, not on purpose either. And then came the Accuracy International…
I’m late to the party on this thread but if my 788 in .308 looked like yours I would have kept it. That’s a good looking gun! I kept the 788 in .222 rechambered to .223 because it’s an absolute tack driver.
Well that would make a lot of sense. Whatever they are, if they are accurate I’ll be set for quite awhile. If they are just ok, they should be good enough to harvest some steel plates at the club.
Yeah, I figured since they were per 100 they wouldn’t be a standard stock item. Maybe it’ll be a massive surprise and they’ll be the Nosler solid base!!! Highly unlikely🥴
That’s what I was thinking, more Speer to me but I thought the photo said it was a representation of the bullet so I figured some kid in a cubicle just uploaded a photo of a bullet and called it a day, needing a much deserved day off after that task🤣🤣🤣
I just ordered some 165 grain .308 blemished bullets from Midway USA. At $21/100 it seemed financially responsible to stock up. Should my .30 cal rifles not shoot really well with them they would still be the cheapest plinking bullet I can find. Anyone who has recently purchased them have an...
