My 280AI has a 24" barrel. If I had my way the 280 Remington I had previous to this build would have had a 24" barrel on it also. That one was a factory 700 MTN rifle with the 22' factory barrel yuck! I say go 24!
I think I'm very lucky to have 3 Unicorns. I hope it's allowed to have more than one. I couldn't just pick one out of the three because they each are special.
Ruger 1B 6mm Remington Oh man I love this rifle. Shoots great and just love hunting with it.
Ruger 1B 30-06 Same as...
Nice job Dan! I think you have a winner there!
Maybe here's what's next up!!!
130 gr. Partition or Accubond
H4831SC using Federal 215 magnum primers to work up a load.
Probably end up in the 58-60 gr. range where I bet you will find a great load for your rifle.
Good luck and keep us up to...
Really pretty rifle in a great cartridge. I think you should keep working on the stock bedding and get it so it's got a little clearance all the way down from about 3" out in front of the chamber. I sure see the potential. IMR4350 and 165 gr. Accubonds & Partitions really liked 57.4 grains...
What's not to like Jim a 280AI and a Nosler bullet smoking along at 3000 fps. Now isn't that Nosler bullet quite something? Same can be said for the the super fine 280AI. Sure love that cartridge in my Winchester Model 70 I had built.
In 25 years of guiding grizzly bear hunters my guide Mike Lettis told me that I was the ONLY person who had requested a desire to have grizzly bear steak in spike camp. No-one else had ever asked!! I took a backstrap off of my grizzly bear and we hung it up on a willow bush near our tent for...
Hard to believe this, but my hunt was in August 2019. I finally got the age of my bear by the tooth that was pulled for that purpose. The tooth was pulled and given to Alaska Fish & Wildlife, and then was sent in to the laboratory to be aged. I contacted them after a few months and was informed...
When I had my 280AI built I selected a Match Grade Shilen barrel which my gunsmith put on for me. It shoots great and I am 100% happy with how it performs.
Glad you are feeling better and are going to be okay Guy! Listen to your doctor and take it easy and slowly get back into shape. Prayers for you and your family. I'll shoot our friend Colin a text and let him know.
