Little late to the party. Personally, I’ve no interest in the 270 win. I don’t own any 27 caliber rifles actually, opting for 7mm instead in 7mm-08 and 7mm Rem Mag for standard use and “reach out & touch ‘em” respectively. That being said, a 270 WSM or 6.8 Western would certainly make me a happy...
Yeah, Leverevolution in my 7mm-08. Seeing nice velocities in load data for cfe 223 is what led me to Lever when CFE wasn’t available. If you look on a burn rate chart, they’re pretty close.
Luckily for me, Varget has not been a standout in any of my rifles. I am using Leverevolution in the applications where I have tried Varget. CFE, darn near the same thing. I wouldn’t hesitate to try Staball match or A2520 but there is truth to what has been said. You spend a hundred or two...
Santa just came back….apparently there was a lost 8lber of Leverevolution and some 450m’s floating around the bottom of his sack! Also, Midsouth has free shipping right now…lol
Frankly, I don’t understand the 7 PRC. It matches a 7mm Rem Mag if you know how to do the 7 mag correctly. OK, that’s not nothin’ but it seems to be solving all the problems that I don’t have with my 7 mag? IMO….it should have been a 300 PRC straight necked down to 7mm and left alone?
Now the...
Socks, shirts, boots. Luckily Santa had more of a budget to work with and a much better understanding of my shooting related wish list! Lo and behold….a box with an Arken SH-4J 6-24 x50 ffp vpr reticle was found under the tree….
My opinion is that it’s just BS. Prices have been edging down and they don’t like it. Read between the lines on this….”anticipated shortage” (meaning it hasn’t happened yet) “ and thus has increased our prices”. So speculation of something that hasn’t occurred has increased your prices? Funny...
33% more expensive for 11% less BC,7mm 185 RDF vs 7mm 180 eld-m. Not competitive with Hornady on merit. I guess we’ll give the moral high ground to Nosler for a win.
I agree with you there! Great bullets, horrible politics from Hornady. I’m not trying to bash Nosler, just explain why I think they’re falling behind. Too much coasting, not enough innovating and apparently not enough manufacturing capacity either.
Yes. Blown fist size holes through shoulder and spine on antelope of the same size with eld-m. Kills the ever living fire out of game, so “designed for game”, that’s nice. If Nosler wants to stick with that line then whatever just ride it out and see how it goes. Accubond at least has legit...
I kinda don’t know what else to say about Nosler? 7mm 160 BT, OK. Why shoot that over a 162gr eld-m for half the price with a lousy BC to boot? “Not a game bullet”…show me the animal that will shrug off a 162gr eld-m but a 160gr BT puts down clean with the same hit?! 7mm 180 gr BT might be...
What’s the last new bullet Nosler introduced anyways? Seriously curious. Maybe the heavy .277 ballistic tip? I wish they’d do something because I feel like they are getting blown out of the water by Hornady!
7mm E-tip, 100-120 grains
Do something to compete with the eld-vt but lead free in 20...
I understand playing the numbers game but in reality, a couple hundred fps of velocity isn’t going to change anything. An anchoring shot will be the same fast or slow. You can’t miss fast enough to drop em on the spot. Just put the bullet on the mark and watch em drop….
Or, go to 120gr bullets...
I have one being delivered today for my .243. I’ve had a SH4 gen 2 6-24 for a while on my 7mm rem mag and sure you can tell the glass isn’t top of the line but it gets the job done and like you said, it punches way above it’s weight class. Interested to see the difference in the Japanese glass...
Yes, point and shoot out to 300 yards. I had always intended this rifle to wear a Weaver K4 fixed power and I only put the current Bushnell ultra HD 4.5-14 on for load development. “Ultra HD” isn’t a joke either, it’s some of the clearest glass I have. After a seating depth test with the latest...
