There are lots of Remington clone/spin-off actions being manufactured by smaller companies now. I have a couple Savages and they're OK, but the sear design is junky imo....
I have a 783 in 223 rem. While I will agree that it's not the best looking rifle(Mostly the trigger gaurd for me), it is at least pretty accurate. 1/2" groups with it's favored loads and about 1" with standard factory stuff.
I'm pretty much a PASS on Remington these days, too many other good...
Prochrono and a modified magnetospeed sporter here. Haven't used the magnetospeed very much yet so the verdict is still out for me. The prochrono worked great for years but recently started not reading 100% of the time after I peppered it with buffer out of a shot shell...
6mm ARC is not nearly as proprietary as 25wssm. It is a slightly different 6mm grendel and 6.5mm grendel probably isn't going away completely anytime soon.
The node you find with one bullet won't necessarily be the same for the other. I'd generally say that you won't get into too much trouble though unless you're really pushing the max loads. FWIW, I use .5gr steps in 08 cases. That's about 1% of case capacity. In a .223, you're looking at .2 or .3...
Finalize a 75gr load for my .223.
Finalize a 120gr copper load for my 7mm-08. I'm pretty close on both of those I think. Maybe keep playing with some different 12ga buckshot loads?
Interesting, thanks for sharing that. Swapping charge weights of the Powders and retesting will be interesting as well! I've used a little bit of exterminator and found it to be OK, just not quite as accurate in my .223 as some others. I have not tried AA2230.
Yeah, sharpy on the case keeps everything sorted nicely and keeps me on track. I mark my cases with bullet, powder and charge weight before putting them in the loading block. The ink is a bit tough to remove with corn cob media but I'm sure some rubbing alcohol would take it right off...
Sounds pretty good. I'm at 2900fps with RL16 and 140gr E-tip. If RL17 works for you then cool but I wouldn't get too hung up on it personally. I was able to hit just short of 3000fps with RL16 just wasn't as accurate as I was wanting. I believe the same is probably possible with CFE223...
I shoot 180gr eld-m bullets in my 7 rem mag. Absolutely love that combo! I've wondered about trying some other bullets though, 183gr Sierra matchking mostly.
Hopefully Nosler gets it figured out but if they can't figure out how to remain competitive in the current market then I think the writing may be on the wall....
Not a dumb idea, but there's a half dozen or more powders that will get you 3000fps up to 3200fps with a 120gr. Hunter is too slow burning for 7mm-08 with 120s imo...
Tumbling brass for sure. Takes forever fishing every piece out, dumping the media out and picking it out of the flash hole. I know there are ways to speed this up possibly but eh.....
I rarely have to mess with case lube because I almost exclusively use Lee collet neck dies. Very fast and I also...
.284/7mm 100gr and 120gr E-tip. 120gr would be OK, like oh hey Nosler you finally showed up to the party....Barnes has been here 20 years...lol. 100gr 7mm E-tip would actually get me excited!
