Don’t know how I missed that pic Fotis. Nice work. Do you eat them in the States? We tend to leave them where their shot here in Australia.

So Fotis, has it seen any bush time yet?

Im New and looking for advice

300wsm that is a great post and solid advice. I have a friend who is new to shooting and reloading and was instantly attracted to chasing velocity and almost appeared to take it as a challenge to beat book max speeds. It scared the hell out of me for him. Reloading is a very serious business and...

With 130 grain bullets I have found that H4831 whilst really accurate is pretty slow. It maybe better with 140 class bullets. H4350 has been better and still is very accurate. The old Swede is a much underrated cartridge just quietly going about its business.

Nah skeeter, I have fluted barrels on rifles that are tack drivers. He was simply saying the more you play with barrels the more things can go wrong.

I am running mine with a 26 inch tube. I figured if I didn’t like the length the gunsmith could always cut it down a bit. The rifle shoots so well I won’t interfere with its harmonics. Interestingly when ordering the barrel he asked if I wanted it fluted. I asked should I and his response was...

160 accubond would also be worth throwing into the mix. It is a super accurate bullet, far less finicky than the 168 you were asking about and none of those animals you listed will walk away from a well placed shot. I bought my 280ai as a do it all rifle and it has proven highly adept at being...

What are you planning to use the 280ai for in terms of game?

Have not used the 168ablr, but if you can’t get that to shoot, the 150nbt is a great bullet and h4350 is a really good match. I’ve never recovered a 150nbt, they have sailed on through leaving a path of destruction in its wake. 280ai is probably my all time favourite cartridge. Best of luck and...

My Deer Season is over !!!

Well the only solution is a new gun to cheer you up. Best of luck with the recovery. Just out of interest, how did you make it back to the car/camp? The thought of a broken leg whilst hunting ranks up there as one of the worst possible injuries, particularly if solo.

    Soon to pick up a 300 Kong..now it's time for a scope..

What are the plans for the rifle 300wsm? Is there a hunt coming up? I love the anticipation of a new rifle, cartridge and learning its secrets. Really looking forward to seeing how it all comes together.

    Soon to pick up a 300 Kong..now it's time for a scope..

Glass is always a tough one I think. There appears to be a point of diminishing returns with the more you pay. My eyes are not good enough to distinguish between 90%-92% light etc…and most people don’t clean their lenses regularly enough so might be a dud number anyway. First and foremost for...

    260 Remington

I slotted a nice young red deer buck a couple of years ago with the 260rem and the 120nbt. Took a few steps and fell over. I was pretty chuffed at the time, 303 yards from one hilltop to the next. I always felt if I needed a bigger bullet I would grab a bigger cartridge. The BC of the 120nbt is...

    260 Remington

I love the 260. Could never figure why it didn’t take more ground from the 243 🤔 I recently played with the 100barnes TTSX which shot well with varget and approached 3,200fps out of a 24 inch barrel. I haven’t used it on game but suspect it would go pretty well. The other thing that makes me...

Inside 400, probably not too much in it in terms of drop, perhaps a little more in wind drift. Reckon I’d just shoot the standard accubond if you can’t get the LR version to shoot.

    30 calibre 180 Ballistic Tip

Thanks Gents, great info right there. I was not aware the bullet had been redesigned to withstand greater speed. It is probably the most accurate bullet I have tried in my 300wm and I have tried a lot. Interestingly H4350 seems to be what really makes it shine.

Just wondering how tough this bullet is. Is it okay at 300wm velocities?

How far are you looking to shoot? Might be that the higher BC is less meaningful within “normal” hunting ranges?

My friend uses h4813sc with the 150 accubond for a little more than 2,800fps in his Sako s20. It is super accurate and hits like the hammer of Thor. He described it as one of the most confidence inspiring guns he owns.
