I have used the 140BT on fallow deer and pigs and it worked great. Never used the 120 as I always thought it would bleed energy too quickly…also never looked at the data either. I tend to use a 120bt in my 260rem and it has been an outstanding bullet, wouldn’t use anything else in it.
I had a bloke give me 3 boxes of once fired 300wm brass the other week because he doesn’t reload. When I look at the cost of a box of factory ammo, hard to justify not reloading.
Yep, rifles can be choosy. I have a 338wm that won’t shoot 225sst’s worth a damn, but the same weight accubond is a genuine sub moa rifle. My little 7mm08 shoots the cheap interlocks better than any other bullet at the same weight and I have a 9.3x62 that you can feed anything to and it simply...
The rifle was always going down the road, but the choice of new rifle is still undecided. Buying new I essentially get the choice of a 24 or 26 inch barrel. I have usually been partial to 26 inch barrels in magnum rounds but wondered what the real world difference between the two was.
The vast majority of my hunting is done on foot with a pack. The terrain is steep but not crazy steep and mostly shots are inside 300. I have a tikka ember in 223 that shoots lights out that also comes in a 300wm. I don’t mind the look of the new xbolt speed too. The crazy thing is I actually...
Hi guys, I have a 300wm in a heavy, 26 inch barrel that I am not overly fond of. It tends to be a safe queen due to its weight. Does anyone have any real world experience in the different barrel lengths as they pertain to this cartridge. A lot of the magnum rifles have 24 inch barrels. All...
My sons 270 was partial to RL22 when it was available, but it did not like h4831sc. H4350 seems to work a charm with 130’s of any flavour. Whilst the 270 may not have the coolness of the new cartridges, a fella could do a lot worse if it was his only choice in the safe.
Great bullet and 140 is pretty sweet in the 7mm08. I am launching mine at 2,840fps or thereabouts and they have a good balance of retained velocity, flat trajectory and penetration. I honestly don’t think you need an accubond at those velocities but being an Aussie I don’t hunt elk either, red...
That looks much better with the velocity gain increments and nice accuracy too. Chasing Nilgai should be an amazing adventure, best of luck with the hunts.
That last load where you stopped shooting is treading very closely on the heels of the 300Rum. If your chrono is correct I can’t imagine you are within the normal pressure limits. I have seen crazy loads shot in a 257 Weatherby where there was no bolt lift issues or the like but the pressure was...
42 grains of H4350 has been my go to in the 243 with the 95 nbt and the 95 hornady sst. For what it is worth, maybe the flat base sst will shoot better, most usually do but don’t have the higher bc for obvious reasons, not that it makes too much difference inside 300. Both of those bullets will...
Just wondering if your supplies in the States has improved? Really skinny on the ground here in Australia and am hoping we get some more soon and using you guys as a lead indicator.
