Plus necking up from .257 to .264 is the smallest movement of the brass in any direction.

    Couple of Hornady 7mm Bullets

Just thought I would post a couple of pics of Hornady bullets I have recovered this past few hunts. Thought you guys might be interested. The 139SST was recovered from the fallow buck below. It was a really thick and strong animal. The shot was taken from a 7mm08 at about 90 yards in the scrub...

    260 AI or 6.5-06 or 7mm-08 AI

I have used all three but not in the ackley form. Honestly I can’t tell the difference on game. If you put the bullet where it is supposed to go the animals fall over. I think the biggest difference in those three cartridges will be determined by the bullet you run. If I was going to ackley any...

    Nickel plated vs bronze cases

I know nickel is easier to find in the bush compared to standard brass.

    280AI w 20 inch barrel

I was gonna be a smartass and say you now have a 7mm08…but damn, that is super impressive. I would not have guessed that in a million years.

    168 gr. ABLR in 280AI ?

I found H4350 works great in the 280ai with 150 grain class projectiles.

    Retiring the 7mm Magnum

Good luck with all that Paul. Hope the Doc gives you good news. I think with today’s bullets calibre is possibly less important for many game animals than it used to be when bullets were less reliable. If I had to shoot my 260 for the rest of my life, there would still be a pile of critters at...

    Retiring the 7mm Magnum

Tack I retired my 7mmRM this year too after 30 plus years of faithful service. The 98 action still rough as guts compared to today’s actions but it never missed a beat. Over that time it wore 2 bell and Carlson stocks, and like you it was fed a diet of mainly 150nbt’s and not once did they let...

223 & 64 grain Sierra Gamechanger Quickload Please

I have 500 of the projectiles so figure may as well work up a load for them. Will be fun learning a new load…hopefully.

Do you think varget would be better re the extra weight when compared to the 55’s?

223 & 64 grain Sierra Gamechanger Quickload Please

Hi Guys, I have been running a load with 55 grain projectiles which have been very accurate for me. The little 223 is a cartridge I am looking to get to know a little better, it is such a fun little round. With the 64 grain sierra gamechangers, I suspect varget will work well, have H4350 but...

    TTSX 185 va 210 in 338-06?

The 215grain SGK is an under rated bullet in my opinion for the 338. Far from being a sexy “modern” projectile, but at the velocities most 338’s shoot, they just seem to work. A good balance between hardness and expansion and have never seen one just pencil through an animal. So many nice...

    Varget in .243 7 .22-250

For 55 grain bullets we had one rifle that liked 34, the other 35 grains of varget. We predominantly used SGK‘s and NBT’s. Didn’t seem to make a difference either way.

    Tikka 6.5x55 Swede, R22, 140 Accubonds, QL?

Interesting the small gains at the higher pressures, I would have expected more, particularly going from 58,000 to 65,000psi. Maybe 70fps which is literally nothing in the real world for hunting or targets, but I bet the brass feels it.

    6mm 70reain NBT

JD that would seem completely unacceptable and one you should rectify. I mean it is Christmas and all and you have been a good boy. 😀
