The 160 BT would be fine for elk but myself, I would use the 160 AB for elk. It will hold together and bust through a shoulder. JD338

I agree with the others that it can't be done safely with a 7-08. Look at a 280 AI or 7mm Rem Mag to hit 3k JD338
