Heat effects on IMR 4831 vs SR4759 or max loads vs reduced loads in hot weather

I’ve never had IMR4831 show any difference on target from hot to cold. Every rifles different. Its obvious it likes the light load very much.

    BC for cast bullets?

What h do is, go outside and pick up a rock. Now listen carefully because this is important. Make sure a good stiff wind is square in your face. Now throw that rock. Subtract 10 from whatever the rock got. Lol

    Elk Hunting Caliber

I won’t get into the how but they’d have a lot of regret tagging my harvest. I remember someone TRIED that with my dad when I was young.

    Cheap .30cal Heavyweights

Wow! I’m really impressed with your velocity results. Almost 2600 fps is more than I thought you’d get from a 308 Win shooting 220 grain bullets. That’s a stout load.

    7 PRC Loads

An over barrel suppressor would be nice at that length. 4” of barrel goes into the suppressor and the other 4” of suppressor extends barrel length. https://amtacsuppressors.com/suppressors/rongo/

    7 PRC Loads

Dang Guy, that’s really impressive velocity from a 22” barrel. LRT has performed very nicely in my 7mm RM’s

    Savage 300 130 ttsx

I’m guilty of TRYING (most times unsuccessfully) to squeeze the smallest groups possible from rifles. Shoot and enjoy it just how it is. Great shooting rifle Fotis.

    Ramshot Grand

I don’t use Magnum but I’m sure many will be bummed if it gets the axe. On the up side the new addition is temp stable with the CFE additive. Well it really only has one competitor, as RL26 is non-existent so that leaves H1000. Haven’t tried the HD I have but have heard good things. I’m sure...

    New Howa Super Deluxe Walnut....

I really like the laminated grip and end caps. Beautiful rifle. I bought a new Vanguard Sporter in 270 Win this past winter and haven’t got it out to shoot it yet. I think I like your stock a little better.

    Suggestion for Winchester/Hodgdon

I don’t care what they say it’s for, just give me 4198. IMR or Hodgdon. I like both.

    Suggestion for Winchester/Hodgdon

Can’t do it. I refuse to call the 45-70 a 45 Creedmoor. It deserves better. Lol

    Suggestion for Winchester/Hodgdon

That was the very first one they put out! 6.5 Lol

    Suggestion for Winchester/Hodgdon

I have an suggestion. With the rapid expansion of the Staball line of powders, give us one on the other end of the spectrum. A 4198 speed Staball would be snapped up by us straight walled shooters. Especially if it was kept in stock.

10mm used to stop the threat, Montana Style! Bear in the house..

A 1911 loaded with Underwood 45 Super will do the trick if you have a fully supported chamber and recoil buffer. With conservation and media being what it is today. Also the proper way to handle an incedent where you have to put down a predator is simply shut up. If it was trying to come in...

    Ramshot Grand

I think it will treat you pretty good. I’ll be kinda surprised if you come back with a bunch of complaints. It’s probably been tested out the wazoo.

    Alliant Powders...Eye Watering

I really like Ramshot powders. I haven’t tried them all of course, but TAC, LRT, and Hunter have been as good or better than just about any other powder out there. I picked up 5 lbs of LT-32 to try in my 45-70’s, just haven’t loaded it yet. Fotis won’t have a problem. He could pour sand in the...

    Alliant Powders...Eye Watering

I don’t think Alliant cares. First, Federal Cartridge utilizes them in their factory ammo. Second, I may be wrong but I don’t think they manufacture squat. Bofors and Reload Swiss supplies 90% of it. Also Bofors supplies just about all European military ammo. I know for a fact that RL23 is...

    Ramshot Grand

I understand developing REACH compliant powders. The manufacturers have to abide by international environmental regulations when the product is marketed worldwide. That being said, pollution from smokeless powder doesn’t even amount to a grain of sand in the grand scheme of things. It’s a hot...

    Ramshot Grand

LRT is a pretty slow powder. Personally I think it would be better suited for heavy bullets in 6.5 and 7mm magnums. You’d probably need to be in the PRC or Ultra Mag class for it to perform well for a .30 caliber. Retumbo pressures out in my 7mm Rem Mags a few grains before LRT. I haven’t...

    Ramshot Grand

Looking at the MSDS it could be a fast lot of Staball HD that Hodgdon decided to keep. Looks like a H1000, RL26ish burn range. It’s an interesting powder, but I have too much Staball HD (15lbs) and LRT(10lbs) to try another right now. LRT gives great speed and accuracy with Berger 180’s. Sub...
