I feel embarrassed to say this but in East Central Florida its 33 degrees (damn cold for us) Cloudy with maybe a hint of snow (only 4 times in a little over 30 years). Wearing flannel shirt, sweatshirt and a jacket. However, my cousin in Maine, 11 below with a wind chill of 26 below.
Merry Christmas to everyone, Have a 'GREAT' day. It's 33 degrees here in East central Florida. Very cloudy and maybe a hint of snow. (only the 4th time in a little over 30 years)
Interesting comment. When I lived up North and hunted Maine every year I dressed light most of the time unless sitting for an extended period of time. One layer of winter clothing with light gloves and maybe a sweater under a jacket was more than adequate. Then after retirement I moved to...
I live in Florida and I can honestly say that DeSantis is the best Governor we have ever had bar none. Excellent head on his shoulders and is always one step ahead of the Naysayers and negative lefties. He thinks before talking which is something Trump did not do on many occasions. Trump did...
Just for everyone's information, the FBI sent out a notice to all Governmental agencies and being that it was on a News Channel (NBC) it was meant for civilians, that there's a strong possibility that violence may occur during election day or the days following the election. I'm sure everyone...
I think he had better check his pants on that one. It looked like a smaller to mid size bear but it initially didn't want to give up on getting a taste of him.
This month's issue of Shooting Times has a very interesting article on reloading older brass and what to look for in regards to safety.. i.e. case and neck splits. Apparently storage conditions have a lot to do with the quality of brass after a number of years of non use. It gives a good all...
I'm curious as to why you would see the scope as the limiting factor. I have been hunting with my .338 Ultra mag for a good number of years with a 1.5X 6 scope attached and I've never had distance issues with it. I took my last Elk at 326 yards and at 6 power it looked as big as a house out there.
I have a Christensen Arms Ridgeline in .300 Mag. I had a similar problem with OAL. The rifle has a hidden magazine which is plenty long enough but the distance to the lands wouldn't allow me to go over 3.330. I eliminated that problem with a throating job. Now I'm at 3.600 with the Federal...
I hope this comment is in the right section of the forum. I would like to know if anyone has purchased Ginex Primers in small pistol and from what company. There is a company called KRArmory that is offering a box of 5000 for $429.00. Sounds like a reasonable deal. Any thoughts?
Got that right Doc. I remember an article some years back of a Japanese woman trying to take pictures of an Elk in Estes Park during the Rut. He wouldn't cooperate and she tried to physically move him to a better position. The Elk turned and literally picked her up with his antlers. She ended up...
Guy, very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. May he rest in peace. Actually I taught my dad how to shoot and hunt and the days in the field are never forgotten.
Guy, my thoughts are with you on the health issues. Until six years ago (at 72 years of age) I was Elk hunting, Deer hunting, Duck hunting and anything else that came to mind. I felt great, was in good shape and did what a much younger person was capable of. Then I experienced my first Health...
The particular subject of using reloads for carry has been gone over and discussed more times than I can remember on other forums. As I live in Florida I decided to speak with a couple of attorneys that i knew were familiar with gun laws, actually owned their own firearms and had in the past...
Actually my 60 year old neice who shoots quite a bit at our public range had the opportunity to shoot a 500 S&W. She looked at the size of the gun, hesitated for a couple of seconds and then said to herself, what the heck. (she always was a bit of an adventurer) She picked it up, complained...
