I respect your opinion, and yes, for the average person it might be too much. But the first time you do it is the time it takes the longest. Once you know that on a brand new barrel, when you do it again, you start at your old measurement and work from there, you’ll maybe see .003-.004”...
Very well handled, Gentlemen. The prices of components are ridiculous right now to be certain. It’s honestly sad that every election year this happens and prices inflate but never go back down to what they were. From 2005-2010 I competed in high power competition heavily, I was shooting close to...
Always been a fan of heavier Bullets. Before this I was shooting 180’s out of it, and they were doing 2,780. Tried the 168’s Barnes first, they shot well and they have killed everything I’ve used them on. I limit shots to 400 yards, MV is 2,740 from my gun, at 400 yards velocity is still over...
I will echo checking every new lot of bullet. For method, this is the best I’ve seen, found and used. It’s the only way to go with a bolt action rifle in my experience.

Wow. Sounds kind of like a bitter and provoking reply....I sure didn’t find it tasteful. Thought it was plainly a pretty satirical post by coop. This forum has always been very civil, hate to see it go down the personal attack/provoking route.
I’ve been looking for one box of the Barnes .30 Cal. 168gr. Original TSX for about a month and a half now, does anyone have any idea where there might be some available? My little sister drew her first buck tag on ranching for wildlife (lucky) but the opportunity for her to kill a 180” buck...
Thanks Scotty, can’t believe in a few weeks I’ll be chasing bulls up there again.
Bear was hit behind the shoulder, about 1/3 down from the spine, exited right in front on the other shoulder. He was dead in seconds, lungs destroyed and about tennis ball exit, taxidermist wasn’t real happy with...
Was fortunate enough to take a bear and Bull this year with my .300 win. Mag and 215 Berger’s. They performed very well, as usual. Couldn’t be more blessed to have a wife that allows me time each year to be in my “safe place” up in the mountains. Huge thanks to family and friends for the help...
Shoot a ladder test at distance. Color the ogive of the bullet in each charge weight a different color. Then shoot one of each at the same aim point, look for where the loads impact the same vertically. The color on the bullet will rub off on the paper. I do this at 600 Yards, but 300 would be...
Rifle I’ve done quite a bit
10M Olympic air rifle
3&4 Position 50ft Smallbore
PRS/various Long Range steel
NRA High Power
F-Class
600 yard BR
Shot gun
Shot trap, skeet and sporting clays for years in high school and college. Shot gun shooting helped pay for college. Kind of got burnt out on...
140 Accubond or 130gr TSX Are the only Bullets I’d consider for a creedmoor. the 6.5 Creed is very light for elk in my opinion, I’ve seen elk soak up hits from .300 Win Mag with 200+gr Bullets.
The pressure reported by weather stations is corrected pressure, so you will need to input the altitude of where the weather station is into the calculator.
Absolute pressure is what you would get from a Kestrel, when you use absolute pressure there is no need to input the altitude in the...
