I've got a couple of them out at my shop. Need more pictures or description in order to help out...maybe the actual measurements of the extra pin? Does it look like this?
I read some more resources and went back to the Bulls Bag website. What I think I'm looking for is a "Bench Technique for Best Hunting Rifle Groups" forum!! Even on their website, there is plenty of brag, but not much about positioning, grip, trigger control, elbows and buttstock, pulling into...
Really useful info, and I'm anxious to put it to work. I went from using homemade sandbags sewn out of denim pant legs and filled with sand, to a factory made sort of sled thing. Decided the butt rest was introducing weirdness, so switched to a Bullsbag for the front, and a couple of bank...
Great story, Mike! I am reminded of an old mentor of mine, and I might have told this before - he was an enthusiast, lucky, and had a lot of experience. Also somewhat gullible, as the little Sako .308 he used in later years was sold to him by a salesman who told him it had special rifling which...
I forgot to add that its a single feed, no magazine. It was a rifle intended for competitions. I put the loaded round on the well and I slid the bolt in and it stopped halfway, the neck nudged right on the bottom of the chamber. When the local gunsmith put in a loaded round and got mad after he...
TackDriver284,
I wonder if you know for certain if it was the neck of the round catching on the chamber at all. Difficult to picture that. Did it do the same with the magazine full and empty? It seems that if the bolt nose recess wasn't radiused properly, the bolt could sort of catch on that...
What an experience! I do like to give people the benefit of the doubt - and so there might be more to what's going on with the smith than is obvious - from family crises to mental disorders which only happened recently. Some of the prescribed drugs we take in good faith can even affect people...
I had a Red Ryder way back when. Technology has advanced. The Xisico XS-12 from Mike at Flying Dragon Air Rifles is great for a smaller and younger shooter. I say Mike specifically because he offers an actual tune, polish and smoothing for not much more and my service experience there has been...
The 270 TSX isn't just a 20 grain heavier bullet. TTSX has the tip, fewer bands, and a boat tail. Bearing surface is different, metallurgy could be different. Too many variables involved, and that messes things up. Looks like fun shooting!

Hey, TD, glad you took the ribbing good! I really like your posts and pictures, and you have passed on a lot of good information. I say you are a highly skilled rifleman and a significant contributor to our forum!

Congrats! I think that is the hugest target pic I've ever seen posted on here! My little laptop screen was groaning with the effort to scroll all over!
Great shooting! Now we need to shrink those images like we try to shrink groups.

Not all Accumarks were created equal. Some had some manufacture and quality problems which individual owners have had to have addressed. Not sure of the age or history on yours. Before pouring a bunch of components and money down the tube tightening up those groups, I suggest verifying the rifle...
Your Win Coyote makes me smile. My son got one in 7mmWSM after he was injured. I asked him why so heavy. He said "I don't have to carry it!". It is very accurate. I checkered that laminated stock and wore out four cutters on those glue layers - that is hard stuff!

Well, you could do a .358 Win AI and be a pioneer! Always wondered what that would be like. The 9.3 x 62 (if it fits) is gaining popularity on the big side. If you have no 6.5 x 55, that needs corrected

Back to the OP's questions ----
1. Yes
2. Walker's Game Ear Ultimate Power Muff Quads
3. My son's .300 Wby has a brake, and I hunt with him, and we go to the range together.
I just hit the magic 70 year milestone, and have a lifetime of outdoor experience, both shooting, working, and...
Well Derek, I hope you get it sorted out. As you have no previous experience returning a rifle to Nosler, I would hope you follow up on that - instead of assuming the negative. The advice from the most knowledgeable people on here has been to let them work on it. Like to know what you decide.
