Thank you! I wondered about the OAL too. That's the published OAL from Speer, using the Hor Cor. They go longer for some other .308 bullets, but not that one. This load will be for a 7600 and the magazine won't really accept much longer than 3.25 and I'm not worried about superb accuracy in...
Two more, if someone is willing: I'd like to play around with the 180 grain Speer Hot Cor in my 30-06. I'd be using Rem cases, WLR primers and a length of 3.16" I have Speer's data, but they don't list Big Game, or H 4895, both of which I have on hand and would like to try. Thank you!
Thanks for the ideas. I can't feel any looseness to the barrel. My accuracy testing was done with the rifle resting on bags. I'll have to try that trick with the paperclip.
I'd love some opinions on a rifle of mine. It's a Remington 7600 that I use for hunting thick woods in bad conditions. I use a peep sight, rather than a scope. Since getting into reloading, I've tried a few different loads and every time I do, something seems a bit wonky. Accuracy is not...
That's interesting. So, does the program have an average usable capacity for each chambering based on the weight of the bullet, or is it specific to the exact bullet, exact brand of case, etc? I'm assuming it then changes based on the seating depth... Either way, someone obviously put some...
How does the program determine usable case capacity? I'm guessing that's different from total case capacity. If I fill a Hornady 7mm-08 case up with water and weigh just the water, I get an average of 56.367 grains. Just curious. Thanks!
If anyone is willing, I'd love some data for RL 17 and the 140 grain accubond in my 7mm-08.
22" barrel
Hornady case
Winchester Large Rifle Primer
OAL: 2.84"
This powder seems conspicuously absent from Nosler's published data. Thank you!
Mine is a model 70 as well (featherweight). Though, it doesn't usually create craters. I had one other load that would make a slight crater (it was right at max), but most don't.
I really wondered about this too, but I was doing a complete copper cleaning before each session, then firing 3 fouling shots before any groups. Each session was only 10-20 rounds, so it's hard to believe fouling was the issue.
Thanks for the responses. Polaris, as it happens, my regular deer load for this rifle is a 145 Speer Hot Cor over IMR 4350. My goal is to come up with a single load that I'm comfortable using for just about anything from deer and antelope up to elk, which I do hunt sometimes and moose (just in...
Hi,
Just wanted to briefly introduce myself. My name is Doug and I am a relatively new reloader (I've been at it for just over a year now). I don't have any friends who reload, so I've learned from books and bits of help I get from users on other sites. I've heard this one is an excellent...
