Why change if you already found a good load. 3000+ with 180 grain bullet is very potent. I'm running 3100 fps with my 300 Winnie using 75 grain of IMR 7828. This is with 180 grain Barnes TTSX and 3200+ with 175 LRX BT. My barrel is 26" though.
This was late season hunt on a private property. The land owner get 12 tags a year and sell it to the public. You still need a tag though for the area to trade with landowner tag in order for you to hunt. I harvested a nice buck on this property 2 years ago. I shot this buck late in the...
I had a chance to use this combo on my hunt last month. I'm truly amazed with the advancement in electro optics technology as it relates to hunting. The Garmin Foretrex 701 loaded with Applied Ballistic programs complements the Sig rangefinder by giving the shooter ability to read the distance...
There's several manufacturer that makes action for big cartridge like the Cheytac. Fotis and I use Stiller TAC 408. JJRock, BAT, Barnard, Pierce to name a few.
Sorry to hear about Clark Guy. I know the feeling. A few years ago, I have to put down Wolfie, our white German Shepherd. I cried as if I lost my son. Woflie was part of the family for 16 years.
I don't have a heavy 223 but I do have 40X in 222 Remington. It has 5 digit serial number and a 22" bull barrel. Not sure how many rounds went through the barrel but it's still shoot light out.
Here's my daughter shooting the rifle when she was just 15 years old. She is 29 now and I painted...
Thanks Dan.
My 338 Lapua Ackley can reach out there, at least 1.5 miles. But to engage target at two miles, you need horsepower and the 338 Lapua just don’t have it. You need something bigger. The 375 Cheytac is the minimum. Actually some are getting into 416 realm with bullet weighing 600...
Guy, is not that mono metal is more accurate than the lead core bullet. It’s more like availability issue. There’s nobody out there right now making a very high BC lead core bullet. I would prefer to use one if there are any. Lead core are better in transitioning speed when compared with mono...
That's the first round fired from the rifle. There's not a lot of reloading data for this cartridge so I was a bit cautious. I've heard people recommending 135 grain of Retumbo as a starting load. Others said start at 132 grain. I decided to load 5 round each starting at 133, 134, 135 and 136...
