I shot my new Savage Axis this weekend and ran out of windage with my scope. I have Weaver bases and rings and a Scheels scope. Any thoughts as to get the last 3" of movement to get it hitting the bull?
We have a healthy population in WI. During my bobcat hunt, we saw a lot of fresh tracks. I have seen tracks 4 miles from town on my trap line. Like anything else the population needs to be kept in check. Our biggest issue is during the summer when they have pups. During that time, any dog...
I carried a 12ga with DeadCoyote incase the cat was on the ground and a .22 for if it treed. Well, it treed but I had to use the 12ga because it was jumping out of the tree as others were walking into see it. I don't think there will be much damage. I have shot coon with #4 and there was not...
After 8 years of applying for a bobcat tag here in WI I finally got one. We get just over a month to fill it either by trapping, calling, or running hounds. I have some friends with a great pack of hounds but I still set traps to up my odds. The weather here has been very cold and the snow is...
Years ago I was all about shoulder mounting nice bucks. After my 3rd one, I decided that the money could be used for other things. Now all deer get European mounted. If they are small, I do it myself in the summer but if they are nice, I pay a few bucks to have them done. We have a few nice...
I have a pump 35 Whelen and it is a great rifle. I shoot 250 Hot Cors in mine. The barrel is very short and I get speeds of 2300 fps but in the deer woods that is all that is needed. I've had it 3 years and still have not shot a deer with it. Maybe next year.
Bill Springfield does trigger...
I plan on loading up some 55 btips in a .223. I have H335, IMR 4895, Varget and IMR 8082xbr. What would you start with and what speed would you be looking for?
I don't know how many others have caught a fisher and otter and also shot a buck the same day. It was an awesome day. I have had 3 fisher tags and my 3rd female fisher. Someday, I will catch a big male!!!
I agree. The posts on this forum full the fire for me to work harder, shoot more, study more maps, and dig deeper. I enjoy reading about all the hunts and look forward to many more.
I hope everyone is doing well. I have not been on the site much due to hunting and trapping but that is a good excuse!!
The goal was for my wife and I to put 3 deer in the freezer with her shooting at least one of them and to catch a fisher and an otter. We did that plus.
I shot the first...
I don't know when but I know it was in my blood at a very young age. My uncle was in his master's classes to become a school psychologist and had to test little kids so I was his test subject.
At 3-4 years old, he asked me, " How many seasons are there?"
I replied, "Four."
He then followed...
I understand if you can't buy the ones you really want but maybe a buddy of yours can buy one or two of them and someday you can buy them back from him. Better than Joe Blow buying it and never seeing him again. The M1 sounds like a dandy!!
Looking for information on what barrel maker to check out when looking for a fast twist .223 AR15 barrel?
I would like the barrel to be 18-20" and shoot heavy bullets. The purpose of the upper is more for the range not field.
Thanks
