    My buddies Proof barreled Remington

Referring to how hard the shooter is leaning into the bi-pod I'd imagine, or that's what it means to me. When shooting the M249 SAW I'd try to break the bi-pod legs by putting as much load as I physically could on it, that made the automatic weapon more controllable during full auto fire. The...

No Love for the 7 Mag?

I have no real love for the 7mm RM, and it's not that it's a bad round it just wasn't better than what I was trying to replace. My first big game rifle was a .270 Win it was my only big game rifle for several years. Well after a few years I decided that I needed to try a 7mm rifle, because of...

The best twist rate for my 243 Win project?

I'm just a guy on the internet, I can tell you it's not safe and you can find another 100 who says it is. I'm just saying I wouldn't use a 93 action for anything .308 based and run it to 60K psi. Keep an eye on the headspace, more than likely you'll have lug setback and not a catastrophic...

The best twist rate for my 243 Win project?

I wouldn't ever use a M93 Mauser action for a .243, just not a good idea in my opinion to run them at those kind of pressures. I know a lot are sold as .308 Win rifles but they were actually supposed to shoot the 7.62 CETME cartridge and not the .308 or 7.62x51 NATO. The action only has two...

    Name of company

Kevin is a good guy to deal with, but just about any decent smith can handle the job. I would try to find one locally before I mailed one off to Kevin. Shouldn't cost more than around $300 to have the job done, it would cost more than $300 for Kevin to do it by the time you have paid shipping...

    Name of company

My buddy ha a less than plesant experience with JES. His rifle actually split the barrel and destroyed the stock on his rebored .35 Whelen. He got his barreled action back this week from JES with a cross threaded replacement .30-06 barrel. Now I don't know exactly what went on between JES and...

    I know I said I wouldn't! 6X45 Build

Be careful out there especially on ladders as that's what got me, if you're using an extension ladder get a stabilizer bar! I went from 09/29/15 to 09/16/16 without working while my ankle was healing. I wouldn't say that I don't have any complications, my ankle is now fused which limits its...

    New Rifle Stock

I didn't know HS made a stock for Ruger, I guess you learn something new every day. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, it's a nice looking stick.

New stock for the shorty 308

I've been tempted by Manners, just haven't taken the plunge. McMillan finally got their act together and have shorter wait times, and they're usually my first choice. Nice rig you've put together.

    I know I said I wouldn't! 6X45 Build

I guess I was a little off, actually a lot off! I can't find my original weights for each piece to know how much weight was removed. However, in the end I lost 9.9 ounces for the sum total of $310 or nearly $32 an ounce. Anyway, I need to com up with a couple of more parts and then off to get it...

    McMillan Rifle Stock

McMillan won't do an Edge fill for a Ruger 77, I imagine it has something to do with the angle of the front action screw. I have one rifle with a High Tech stock which is now owned by LAW. They are more work than a McMillan or Manners, but if you can do the work yourself they are a lot cheaper...

    I know I said I wouldn't! 6X45 Build

I won't start the next one until I finish this one and it's a long way from done. I'm still waiting on my action to get back and I have to find someone to coat the metal yet.

    I know I said I wouldn't! 6X45 Build

Got the barrel and bolt body back from Twisted Barrel yesterday. 14 days from the day I sent it off. Marty took nearly 11oz off between the two. I have the action out getting worked on, hope to have it back soon as well.

    How is barrel length measured?

Rocky Gibbs was the only one who I know of made a point of measuring a barrel from the tip of the bullet. He liked his barrels long!

    270 WSM Mountain Rifle ideas

I have a M70 EW in .270 Win and it has been a great shooter. Mine weighs in at 8lbs 9oz with sling and 5 rounds of 130 grain ammunition in the magazine. I could do a little to lighten it up more, going to a 3-9X40 VX2 would save me 5oz or a FXII 6 would save me 6oz, plus changing the sling...

    Tikka T3x 300 WSM

I wish Leupold would combine the Windplex and LRD reticle. The B&C reticle works pretty well, but I like the LRD better. There isn't a good way to hold for wind with the LRD though.

    Tikka T3x 300 WSM

I just got the 6X SS with MQ reticle, haven't mounted it yet as I don't know what I want to put it on. As far as what one to get it makes no difference, just get the one with the adjustment your most comfortable using. If you're more familiar with MOA adjustment you might like it better than...
