Right before the "chinademic" hit I found several pounds of Varget. While I really didn't need it at the time Im glad I bought it. Its as scarce as a pro-second amendment Bidenite at an NRA rally.
Ive never used 4350 in my 7-08 but Varget and Big Game powder with 150 gr NBT's, 139 gr SST's or 140 gr Sierra GK's shoot lights out. I see no reason to try anything else.
While many may say that IMR 7828 is temperature sensitive, and they may be the case in some applications but I have found right the opposite in my rifle. While I don't have chrono numbers this load shoots the same in 90 degree plus heat as it does at 40 degrees or less. It was a little rainy...
I started to get into the Enduron series of powder with the unobtanium Varget but with this news and Varget starting to show up a little Im glad I didn't change horses in midstream
Ive seen a few but the prices are, well, stupid high. I saw some CCI benchrest primers for roughly 165 per 1000.
At these prices I sure am glad I started putting primers back when Trump was President. Ive got thousands of primers.
Was in my local Wally World today and ran across 6-7 bottles of BH 209. 53 dollars for an 8oz bottle. That's 106 dollars per pound. Simply incredulous! Ive got a couple bottles left and when it's gone I'll go back to 777.
Well, I guess it's time to start buying up a few more boxes of my favorite bullets to add to my stash.
The only non-leaded bullets Ive tried were the TTSX. While they killed what I shot at, and I guess that's the end result, however, I do not like "non-leaded" bullets tho.
Ive got some Winchester and Federal primers from year 90, 91 and they all go bang when called on. They have of course been kept in a climate controlled environment. As others have said, if yours have keep cool and dry they are good to go.
Curiosity is not a bad a thing. Seeing that the 280 parent case is the 30.03 case, which is basically a 30.06, I was curious about making 280 brass out of 30.06 cases, wasn't hard.
Unless you were dealing with brass that was very hard to find or some uncommon wildcat, why would you want to do that? I would think case failure rate would be high going from 280ai back to "standard" 280.
