I’ve settled on my new Beretta BRX1 in 300 win mag for this years moose hunt. It continues to shoot very well with Hornady precision 200gr ELDX. Using the more compact harvester evo supressor and with its 22” barrel it is much more manageable than my Seekins havak with its 26” barrel and 9”...
I have a contender with several barrels and an encore with rifle and a 410 pistol and 338 pistol barrels. If I draw a cow tag anytime soon I might try that 338 federal on it.
We have had a few bear attacks and a wolf attack so far this fall. Noting fatal yet thank god.
I generally carry either a 2.75” 629 44 mag loaded with 300gr cast or XTP mag or a 10mm loaded with 200gr bonded SP or 200gr cast/all copper.
I find myself carrying the 10 most of the time...
I got the razor LHT mounted up today and zeroed in. Ended the day with a 1/2” 3 shot group at 200 yards. Very impressed with this setup. Loooks like it will go with me moose/caribou hunting in a couple weeks.
I ordered a vortex razor LHT 3-15x50 for the BRX1 today. This scope will check all my boxes and should be a bit more accurate adjustments. So far the razor LHT has yet to let me down. I have two of the 3-15x42 LHT that have been fantastic.
The Burris has a great feature set. The glass was...
I took the BRX1 out to the range this afternoon. I gotta say I’m pretty impressed. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the straight pull bolt. I didn’t expect it to shoot as well as it did really.
I only had a handful of federal premium 180 accubonds and several boxes of Hornady 200gr ELDX...
My 6.5 PRC has shot everything I’ve tried in it very well. I settled on a load using the 124gr hammer hunter bullet @ 3200fps. Accuracy is outstanding and the terminal performance has been excellent. I’ve taken two whitetails and two caribou with this load.
I have 2 of the havak ph2. 6.5 PRC and 300 win mag. I just can’t say enough good things about both my havak rifles. I’d say easily the best production rifle out there. Both of mine have performed flawlessly.
Most places locally you will need a permit to hunt in archery only areas. If you can draw a ft rich archery permit there are some good opportunities, otherwise I recommend you look to the non motorized vehicle areas. You will find less pressure in those areas.
I’ve been looking at the BRX1 rifle from berretta. It’s. Looks very similar to the blazer r8 but at a much more reasonable price.
I’m thinking about picking one up in 300 win mag.
Anyone tried one? Anyone have any opinions on it?
I’ve always thought that cartridge made a lot of sense. That rifle looks to check all the boxes on an excellent big game rifle. What kind of cartridge length can you fit in the magazine?
