Wil.li.wa; a sudden violent squall blowing off shore from a mountainous coast. I was taught the phenomenon looks almost like an avalanche coming down the mountain and then unimpeded roaring out to sea. In my case I’m several hundred miles from the sea but it had the same effect rolling down the...
Well I’m surprised Marjorie Taylor Green hasn’t yet found an associated conspiracy theory to tie this to the weather or Joe Biden or just about anything else. This does however add further proof you can’t fix stupid and I always give vets the benefit of doubt.
Went out yesterday for a quick trip to the Range. Five shots with the 180 gr. Partitions measured favorably, came in at a one MOA group. I started loading and shooting when a 1 inch group was considered very good and a 270 was considered a good little deer rifle.
Next up were the Accubonds at...
Well I was only 3 or 4 years old, Alaska wasn’t a state yet, but as the story was told to me later my dad killed his first bull up around Circle Alaska with a Winchester 95 in 30-40 Krag. He was always astounded when working out in the villages how many native hunters used the .222. Shoot them...
Been looking for pics of my mom with her deer and elk she shot with her 257/120 gr. Bullets. Those appear to be lost. My 257 loves 100 gr Ballistic tips. H 380 or 4350 seem to be well balanced in the rifle. Works just fine on Antelope
I haven’t had much luck with the Etips. My Barnes loads in 06 and 300 shoot circles around the E tips. I’d happily send them to anyone who could use them for some future consideration.
Im a big fan of displacement, to borrow a phrase from Fotis. Built my 338 Jarrett several years before the Rums came on the market. With elk there was a difference. As youngster I was taught to shoot them till they are down with an 06. A couple of 300wm seemed a little better but I wanted more...
Well just to be redundant, I run them in my #1 275 Rigby pushed by my last two pounds of Rl17 at 2950fps. They kill deer just fine; my Grandaughter will use the 140 accubonds on elk next year. We had to postpone her cow hunt this year. She’s just soooooooo busy in high school :)
My 257 Roberts is easily the most finicky rifle I own. 100 gr. Ballistic tips are great. 110s are poor and 115s look like I was shooting full choke #4 buck shot.
I’ve tried 4 or 5 powders in the Roberts with 100s all came in at under an inch.
I have an 06 that shoots everything from 130s to...
