Yes, that is what I have read - Winchester uses the same barrel contour on all safari calibers. The barrel tapers to .720 at muzzle I believe...Sounds like about a #5/6 countour

Anyone loading/shooting this combo? What velocities are safely attained out of a 24" barrel....If I move on purchasing a 375, this is another bullet/load combo that has me intrigued.

In the 7/08, I was thinking about loading a 120 ballistic tip or sierra soft point at about 25-2600 fps...should be very little recoil in a load like that and handle deer/antelope fine out to 200 yards which is the farthest I can imagine him shooting.

I think I am going to go the 257 Roberts option on a long Remington 700 or Winchester 70 action...When he gets bigger, full 120 nosler partition load will provide him all the pop he will need out to 300 yards.

The alternate idea is a Tikka T3 Compact (12.5" lop) in 7mm/08...When he outgrows the stock, just need to replace with full size tikka stock.
