Working on a new project with my buddy on a 270 weatherby...Combined we have NO experience with this round. Any feedback is suggested.
We are looking for loads and starting points. Really want to shoot the 150 grain partition. Have 4831 and Re 22 on hand...According to the nosler manual...
No, this was built in house by his grandfather - can't send it back to montana...And this is a man that has built at least 50 rifles in the last 10 plus years - just can't fathom how it happened.
Also, let me clarify - the rifle was to be a standard 270, the 338 win mag was only mentioned cause...
So my best buddy had a rifle built by his Grandfather for him as a wedding present. It was to be a English walnut stocked rifle on a Montana 1999 action, chambered for .270 Winchester.
The rifle came out looking beautiful but in starting load development today we discovered a major issue. The...

If I keep everything the same...
I was able to get out and shoot some more today. This time the rifle has the muzzle break... I must say it really works well. To me the rifle kicked more like a 270. I could have shot it all day. I only wear the orange foam ear plugs and they were just fine as fall as noise control.
I have a...
I have talked with the gunsmith, and the break is one they build on a lathe in house to match the barrel diameter but also, they drill the holes at more of a forward facing angle so you still get some reduction but not nearly the noise increase of other breaks. Also there is not bottom holes to...
With much saving, sacrificing, and research I am the proud owner of Meopta Meostar HD 10X42 Binos and a 30-60x82 Meostar HD spotter....
Over the years I have owned Swaro, Leica, Zen Ray, Vortex, Burris, and Theron Optics. I am no expert, but I do feel this HD Meopta stuff is right up there with...
So got back from first range trip with my new Tikka 300 wsm. This is the stainless model with a B&C stock and a Vortex Diamondback HP 3-12X42 BDC.

Wanted to share a couple pics of the Mountain Rifle I have recently put together and will be using this fall for mule deer/elk.
Its a Tikka T3 stainless 300 wsm. I put on the B&C Medalist stock and had it skim bedded. The trigger is set right at 3#. It has leupold rings and bases, with a Vortex...
I have a pound of r17 and I would like to use it to develop a load in my new tikka 300 wsm shooting 180 accubonds. Can anyone recommend some recipes? Velocities?
Thanks
I have a Diamondback HP 3-12X42 - Great Scope. Very Bright - legitimately competes with other top brand $3-400 scopes. The HP lines has the upgraded HD glass with XR coatings - same glass that's in the Viper Lines.
So I won an auction I thought would go a lot higher on a tikka t3 lite stainless in 300 wsm. Won it for $479 (that gun is $699 locally).
So now I have the Winchester 70 classic I talked about in another thread and this new rifle. Actually think I am going to build this one up as well and sell...
Here is what I have decided on....Will be picking up the rifle today and ordering the stock soon.
I have agreed to purchase a Winchester 70 classic stainless in 300 wsm with 24" barrel. I will be replacing the stock with a B&C model 70 classic (1.85 pounds) and replacing the two piece trigger...
