I started out thinking I needed every caliber and the only way too do that on my salary was to buy very cheap used stuff and most of it never got used after the weekend I bought it.
Eventually I decided a Weatherby line up was for me and we sold everything and now have only 6 Weatherby's and...
I use weatherby ammo and have not found it to be inferior to anyones handloads. It is expensive but to date, I neither have the time or inclination to buy all the equipment and products I need to start reloading.
Someone else above said "I am a hunter not a shooter" and that does fit me for...
The first rifle I got my wife was a 243 and she loved it. Eventually she moved up to a 270 but I was glad she started with something smaller and easier to handle
I have never owned either but have almost owned both at one time or another. I have shot both, as friends have both the 308 and...
300 weatherby for me, sort off.
I also agree with Earle and April. A friend of mine has an H & H and I do want one, and the 300 is still in the safe but has been replaced in the field with the 270 Weatherby. I will probably sell the 300 Weatherby and buy a 300 H & H.
Charles, speaking of...
Excellent point Dr Mike and I have looked at pictures of the area Gerry hunts in and that alone is an incentive too move. It is beautiful
Dr Mike, another one that makes me smile when I read it, is Walrus---who in the heck hunts Walrus
of course it is possible the several here do since the...
here in the east ones shots are usually under 100 yards. I was always told hunting Elk in the west would require a long range rig but we have hunted Elk in Montana every year for several years now and I think are longest shot was 225 yards.
I love how Gerry speaks about goat and sheep like it...
Wow! there are some great hunts here, great hunts!
Love how easy and casual some are, like Hodgeman and Dr Mike about some really nice hunting
We will look for whitetails and turkeys here on the east coast and Elk in Montana
p.s. Idahoctd, a month in Alaska and a couple of weeks in Hawaii...
Dr Mike, Gerry, Gil
you fellows from B.C.
Is the ban in Quebec on Caribou like the ban oil Grizzly's in B.C. ?
Does someone from the U.S. have to have a guide to hunt caribou in B.C. or is it like Alaska ?
I would love to own a nice double rifle but I can not justify the cost. I think a double is definitely something that is European and Africa. I also dont use or have a double shotgun either side by side or over and under, but several people I hunt with do have an over and under but I dont...
I am with Dr Mike. I am not a knife fighter! BTW the LEL hunt was with rifles and to my knowledge no dogs
We have had two or three different breeds, I like the Lab,
however I do not harvest 60 plus pheasants in one morning like salmon chaser, and we dont have a lot of sled dog races or...
I agree with Fotis
Dr Mike, thank you, interesting. I had never heard of them but I guess wild hogs destroy a lot of land in the south. A group of fellows from the LEL forum got together and went on a hog hunt and had a lot of fun and harvested a lot of hogs
please God, let me live the life of Earle, Dr Mike, SalmonChaser and April.
In my limited experience . Pheasants in South Dakota. We did enjoy Quail in Texas one year but our Pheasant hunt was quite an enjoyable hunt
This thread might win the thread of the year award
Great information about starting a fire
But it doesn't stop there, we have info about boats, dogs, weather, airplanes, and the best part was thinking about warming up in the sauna with some of Polaris old friends (-;
