I converted my Lyman Deerstalker by changing the nipple to use musket caps to get better ignition with the black powder substitutes. The #11s worked well with the now discontinued Black MZ but I would occasionally get failure to ignite with 777 and Pyrodex. Musket caps cured that for me. I've...
You can order new brass from Quality Brass but it is $48 a box of 20. I've been forming it from 7mm Remington Magnum brass. It is a multi-step process but you get a good product in the end. I'm using Redding dies and a forster inside neck reamer. I also own a 7mm Remington Mag but don't have an...
I love hearing these stories of guns being passed down from generation to generation, neither of my grandfathers were hunters. My dad was and when he passed I received his 280 Remington 700 Mountain rifle. I've been lucky to enough to use it to take several white-tailed deer. His rifle will be...
I ordered two boxes of them yesterday from SPS. The per box price was fair but I think their $15 flat rate shipping for this order was a little high. I didn't want to order more than two boxes until I know that my rifle will like them and checkout their performance. I could of added others but...
My hunting .22 pistol, Browning Nomad, is sighted in at 50 feet and has been adaquate for squirrels, rabbits, raccoon, and even a coyote. My target .22s, S&W model 41 and Browning Buckmark, are sighted for center hold at 50 yards. Good luck and enjoy shooting yours.
Thanks for the heads up! To bad they didn't reference the serial number range of the recall. You may have bought it during this period but when did the dealer get it in inventory? I wonder when a recall like this comes out do dealers check their inventory and how quickly are they notified. It...
I like your box blinds! I have an open box blind that was built on location 30+ years ago. Because we have to cross a marsh first it is hard to get any kind of a prebuilt blind and the equipment to lift it into the location (which I don't have). I guess we could do it in the winter when the...
I still have trail cameras out but the last buck that I have with antlers was December 29. My cameras are equipped with external battery packs that I put together myself. These are Tactacams, so I'm able to receive pictures to my cellphone check batteries and memory remotely. I didn't go with...
I'm not really understanding the problem I guess. If it came off during cycling you must have already lifted the bolt handle and the bolt should remove easily or is already removed from the action. If that is the case, the bolt handle can be reattached by silver solder or TIG weld. Regardless...
The price of black powder and black powder substitutes has gotten totally out of hand. Even at todays prices it's cheaper to shoot any of my centerfires.
My only experience with Randy was to have him rechamber my Remington 722 in 257 Roberts to a 257 Roberts Ackley Improved and I was pleased with the work that he did.
It sounds like several have experienced this same issue. What it boils down to is poor quality control during manufacture. A action with this problem should have never left the plant. My response is based on the assumption that there are no replacement or aftermarket parts involved in the equation.
