I'd lean toward a 1/4 bore, 250 Savage or 257 Roberts. Why? I don't have anything in .25 caliber and new projects are always fun and of course I like short actions. My 2 cents anyway.

Thanks for info, after rereading your post I see you mentioned .5 micron. Which with research is obviously the ultra fine product.

Miss Sugar is sure a beauty. I always favored the white colored Shorthairs when I bought or kept a pup. Seemed easier to spot them especially when locked on point in CRP or whatever wind blown crop the birds decided to hunker down in.

I too have had good luck with IMR 4198 with 50gr Blitzkings or Ballistictips in 223. Though last check that barrel is slowing down a bit. Those same bullets in 22-250 do well with Varget and of course H380.

While not on your short list, I've been happy with set of Leupold BX-4 Pro Guide HD 10x42. Decent glass compact and lightweight. Street priced near $500.

Jimbeaux I would like to hear how this project goes for you, as I will be doing an identical load development for my grandsons Savage storm. My loading room is not yet set up after a retirement move but when the time comes I'm sure your experience will be helpful.

Yeh I bought him the Savage Lightweight Storm with adjustable LOP and a decent recoil pad. Sweet little rifle for the price.

Same situation here, I just ordered 120 grain Sierra Pro Hunter bullets from Powder Valley for grandson. Looks like BenchMark may be a light charge according to Sierra #5 manual.

With the 140 and 160 ABs I get good accuracy and decent speeds with H4831sc. The 175 Interlocks do well with IMR 7828 out of my 7wsm. I haven't found a need to hotrod this rifle though. Good luck it's a fun round to work up.

My experience with my only Lapua purchase, after a single firing I noticed what I would describe as lamination on 3 cases. Contacted representative and sent pics, he requested I return all 200 pcs for replacement. Which involved demilling and soaking unfired primers. The payoff? 200 pcs of new...
Nice looking set up for her. I can't help noticing the mounts in the background. You've done some fun hunting it seems.
