I live by this quote, "You should not use a rifle that will kill an animal when everything goes right; you should use one that will do the job when everything goes wrong." We have too many hunters who are focused on "hitting" the animal, when the focus should be on a clean kill. I have lost...
I have had three one shot kills on the tree squirrels that seem determined to take over one of my out buildings. The 350 Montana Bullet Works, slug turns them into a red mist. Have not shot any big game with mine. but that will change next deer season.
I am more a hunter than a shooter so my round count in a year with all weapons is more likely less than a thousand rounds. My practice range is primarily at 300 yards, and in prone position. Most of my game is taken prone or sitting at or beyond 300. I am a decent pistol shot but do not shoot...
Your target looks just like a couple of mine, with my .223. I have never broken the sub 1" barrier, no matter what components or other adjustments I have tried. It does a great job on coyotes however.
As I have been through these shortages before, they typically do not catch me short on components. I did some trading and gifting last spring and came up with everything I could ever want. I was the recipient of several gift cards last christmas, and with those, the Christmas sales, and my...
I have been loading and shooting big game with a 300 WM for over 40 years. My most accurate hunting load is 72 gr. of H-4350 with 180 partition. There are newer bullets that will get the job done and better at longer ranges, so I would encourage you to look at some of those. The WM is an...
My most used varmint rifle is a Remington SA, Tactical in .308. Shoots sub 1/2 inch, is easy to load and if I wanted I could hunt about anything with it. Save yourself a ton of money and pain trying to find loading materials, developing accurate loads, and putting together all of the new...
If one were to commit a capital crime, as apparently sharing a tag must be. The best thing to do is not share that info with anyone. They just didn’t drop out of the sky, someone alerted them of this horrible crime . It sounds as though they grossly overacted, and owe the family an apology, art...
Hopefully those here who are running short of components will remember these days when the prices once again drop to a more reasonable level. Then buy for the days and months ahead. It always happens when the hateful leftists come into power, and should come as no surprise.
I realized long ago that I could not hit a game bird with a shotgun, unless is was tied to a log. I sold my shotguns and have never hunted them again. It was like a great cloud was lifted off my shoulders. I admire those who are successful. Congratulations Don on your birds, and hopefully...
“Charlie, There is plenty of powder, primers & bullets in inventory. It's just stockpiled in half a million homes rather then on the shelves of a few hundred stores. At some point, shooters who are grossly overstocked will be looking to give the stuff away“. I really doubt many serious...
300, if you input your zero at say 300 yards and a max distance of 500 yards it will calculate your trajectory at whatever increment you input. It’s kind of a backwards way to get what you want but it works. Depending upon your bullet weight 2.75 should put you at zero give or take a few yards
My Nosler Loading manual and others all show velocities in excess of 3,000 fps using both H4350 and H-4831. Both requiring over 60 gr. of powder. What loads are you using? I would rather hit "exactly" where I pointed, than gain a little more velocity.
