I finally picked my M21 in 300WM up today. The good and bad...
The good- it's a very, very businesslike rifle with great fit and finish. The stock feels great- slim fore end, great non-slip finish, and not at all hollow sounding. The thread protector on the muzzle doesn't look like an...
SPS came through again... in addition to the 210 ABLRs, they had 100 180gr Partitions.
Pretty sure between the two and my current stock of E Tips and ABs...something will work.
Depends entirely on what you're looking to do with it...shotguns get pressed into a lot of roles.
Waterfowl- I'll take a modern 12 gauge autoloader starting with a 'B'.
Teaching a kid- a single barrel in a sub gauge is made to order.
Rambling for grouse- a good two barrel SxS, in 20 or 28...
The Ridgeline is basically the MPR barreled action in a traditional stock. My MPR shot lights out.
I didn't like the MPR chassis, but it was a real shooter.
I've used the 140s in the 7-08 for caribou with great results in an 18" and a 20" barrel. I'd use 150s but wouldn't really prefer a 160 unless I had more case capacity than you can squeeze out of a 7-08 case.
I was able to source some 210 ABLRs from SPS. Hopefully I can get these to shoot. My prior results with ABLRs in a 6.5 were a little hit or miss (pun intended).
Couple of ideas... is he just forgetting to work the bolt? If so, a bolt action .22 and some plinking is in order. My son used to forget to work the bolt...the culprit was his 10/22 and all of the video games he played didn't require an action to reload. His bolt action CF was the only gun he...
Since I've got a new .300WM on order, I'm trying to plan some new loads.
I've long been happy with the 300WSM firing the 180AB and I'm thinking the 300WM might be fantastic with the 200gr bullets like the AB and PT (provided I can source some). I've got a good selection of powders like Hybrid...
For general hunting in the .308 Winchester...I like plain old 150gr flat based Hornady Interlocks over 45gr of Varget. I've never found a rifle that didn't like it and MVs of 2850 are pretty typical.
While it wouldn't be my first choice for shooting 500 yards, or a moose for that...
I've located a new M21 rifle, chambered in 28 Nosler.
While the paper ballistics look pretty impressive, I've got very little experience with 7mms in general and none with the 28NOS.
Does anyone have any first hand experience? This will be my first foray into the 28 and, given the state of...
I loaded up some 178ELDX with a max charge of Superformance for a friend's 24" barreled Tikka 30-06. He got an honest 2950fps with no pressure signs.
I was shocked. Apparently RL-26 does the same thing for the old warhorse!
The 180 Accubond has been very good to me on everything from wolves, to caribou, to bears, to moose in my 300WSM. I hunt everything with that load.
I load the same bullet for a buddy's '06 just a 150fps slower and for another buddy's 300WM about 100fps faster. No critter alive would be able to...
