hi!
my wife will hunt moose this fall, but she is very recoil sensitive. and she wants to use her own rifle a model 7 youth in 260 rem... with muzzle break!!! (to give an idea of how sensitive she is  )
i have 4 boxes of factory remington 140 grain corelokt. but the of the 4 deer she shot...
For me it would be a 20 VarTarg
It would be perfect for rockchuck hunting round here
Where average shot is 100-150 Yard and it's low noise would be perfect
Since neibors are close
last fall i swapped bullets with someone in another forum. ended up with 200 grains partition to use in my 300 ultra.
i found time to load a few last weekend. since i use 92 gr of retumbo for my 200 accubond load
and since i tried up to 95 gr without any pressure sign i tought it safe to load...
wonderful caliber!
i've been looking to find one in left hand config. for years so i can have it AIed. with no luck
finally settled on a 7mm wsm and i love it. but i would have liked the 280 AI better.
really interesting!
we can see that speed or heavy weight does not always equal deeper penetration.
the 150 scirocco i use in my 7 mm wsm did fairly well in the test.
i know it's an old post but i wanted to share the result of my shooting session of this afternoon.
i didn't get the chance to work on my load this winter, but had time the last few weeks
i followed Scotty's recommendation and bought a can of imr 7828.
velocity is great. i chronoed between 3205...
i agree here too! of course we don't carry shooting bench in the field, and i won't be able to reproduce .50 to .75" moa groups from field position. but it can only be better than if the load is 2 moa from the bench to start with.
i mean, for example my favorite 300 ultra load shoots .60"...
That's the reasons i started reloading for my 300 ultra, not much offers in factory ammo, and 75$ a box of 20.
now that i'm reloading, i use the bullet i want, and a box of 20 will cost between 27 and 35 dollars depending on the bullet used.(premium bullets)
i shoot about 200- 300 round a year...
i would definately try different oal. my first try with the ttsx at 3.600" was giving me 1.5" groups. the exact same load at 3.650" gave me 0.5"
i tried it many times with the same result. i also tried a 10 shot group for fun, 7 shots in .6" and the worst of the group enlarged it to 1.2" ( 9...
i know thw 168 ttsx is not the best weight bullet for the 300 rum but 93.6 gr of reloader 25 behind it turned 3 rem 700 into .50" shooter's for us
velocity is not great at 3200 but accuracy is impressive to say the least worst groups with 1 of the 3 rifle was .60" best are a few groups in .25"...
retumbo and rl-25 works for mine
here's 3 shot with 168 ttsx and rl25 0.241" (consistent .50" load but i prefer the terminal performance of the accubond)
and five shots with 200 gr. accubond and retumbo
from what i read it should be awesome for 2 calibers i load for 260 rem and 7 wsm
i might start reloading for my 30-30 also, and give this leverevolution a try
i see the same kind of pattern from my wife's 260 with the 120 gr. B/T
i was out last saturday trying my 7 wsm at 350 and 450 yard to check my bdc reticle, and i brought along my wife's rifle for fun.
the rifle was zeroed at 100 yard with factory ammo, and i was shooting reloads, that i knew...
i use them in my wife's 260. the 120 gr. kills deer on the spot and offer good penetration at the low velocity.( 2750 fps) internal damage is impressive.
i switched to these after using the 140 corelokt and having problem with them ( under expension and pencil hole thru the vital)
