I have a Leupold 4.5x14x40 Adj Obj. with
Talley bases and ring system on my Anschutz .22mag.
Easy parallax adjustment makes for great accuracy
with the .22mag.
Yes Boomer that set came from Weatherby when I ordered the gun.
Every other set I got Directly from Talley. They were great people to deal with.
Super solid system. Skid
Yes hunting with the Sierra's in 250gr.
I have shot Mule and whitetail deer but no Elk as of yet
with the SGK's and can't comment on core separations
as I have not recovered one yet. It is a very accurate
bullet. Someday I'll get some of those elusive Accubonds
Yes it shoots well, however it took some time
to find the best load. I believe the last 3 in this target were
84gr 7828 with 250 SGK's. @ a modest 2850 dialed up 3.5"
@ 100yds for my 300 yd zero. Just wish I had some 250 Accubonds
to make Nosler Proud...
I forgot to add... As far as the scope and base/ring system my .340
has not beat it loose yet, and the scope has held zero with the repeated
heavy recoil. I'm very pleased with the set up. Skid
I have the same scope on my Accumark I believe it has med. rings somewhere
in the safe is the box as I have the same setup on all my rifles base and ring wise.
I can send you a picture of the clearance of the obj bell if you want to
see what it looks like. Mine are fixed 30MM. with the Talley 9...
I also used .30 cal carbine bullets @110gr SP
with 11gr TB was a bit over 1500 fps also very accurate.
She can shoot both no problem, I am working her up slowly
After having trouble finding a bullet that would stabilize in my .308
shooting reduced loads , I had success with this one. Although
@ 1425fps there is no expansion but I didn't expect it to. Shoots great for my
13 year old daughter low noise and recoil.
Guess I will run a FL die and make some kind of shoulder measurement
and watch it move like a regular case. I'm supposed to be vacuuming
the floors and mopping for my wife....
I your practical experience are belted cases more likely
to suffer from case head separation than rimless ?
I have .340 Wby Mag cases exceeding 8 reloads {neck sizing}
that exhibit no internal ring or groove. And what case life do you
get on belted Mags?
As Hand loaders and Hunters I believe each of us try to get the best
accuracy out of each rifle we have whatever it is. When we take them to the
field we know our equipment is as good as it can be. We usually are the only
variable in the process. With that said "what's good enough ?". I think...
Yep..With that knee I think their right. Best take it
easy for a while. When I am down I clean an prep brass
and the like. Stuff like that you know, anyways you will be
back at it again soon no doubt.
As for the Coated stuff I believe I would clean all the way
down, no copper,nothing and shoot...
Does the coating come off the bullets and deposit on the rifling ?
I have never shot a coated bullet and am truly wondering.
Thinking about that full knee job makes mine hurt too...Hope you get back
up and around soon. Wouldn't surprise me if it snowed next week...or got
up over 100.
