    25-06 vs .243?

I am going buying a new rifle (thinking about a Model 70 Winchester) and am considering a .243 or a 25-06. I will NOT be hunting anything larger than Mule Deer. I also like to punch paper. Suggestions on manufacturer, caliber and barrel length would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Paul

Need Opinions on What Caliber to Buy

Don't like muzzle breaks. There are other options that will reduce recoil without the noise increase. I do have a "big boy" gun, .50 cal muzzleloader. If you ever shoot one stoked up with about 130-140 grains equiv., you'll see what I mean. Paul

Need Opinions on What Caliber to Buy

I am struggling between a 270WSM or 30-06. I have decided to buy a Tikka left handed and put a Trijicon Accupoint scope on it. Other than hunting, I enjoy playing with new loads and spending time at the range. Here are the animals I would most likely hunt with it: Black Bear, Pronghorn, Mule...

    2011 Dallas Safari Club Convention

JD338 asked me to report on the 2011 DSC Convention. I attended yesterday, the opening day. It was the only day I was be able to go. Attendance is usually lower on Thursday, which is the reasons I go at that time. It is much easier to talk to folks and get questions answered. That being...

    Model 700 Remington

Well, I have decided on a rifle to buy. I did a little more research and have decided on a Tikka Lite Stainless/Synthetic 30-06. It has several features that I like. 70 degree bolt throw, 1 MOA out of the box, lighter weight (am not getting any younger at age 56) , smooth action, and...
