Would one expect to see a gun prefer different loads based on muzzle devices? For example, if I worked up a load with a bare muzzle, then had the muzzle threaded and screwed on a suppressor, would I need to work up a new load? I know some folks attribute an accurate load to timing barrel whip so...
If I’m gonna run 140’s it’s gonna be out of a 6.5 Creedmoor. Higher BC and significantly higher SD. The benefit to the 7mm-08 from my perspective is those heavies.

Well I’ve got a Tikka T3x Compact in .223 on the way and I blame you guys. I’ve already got a Bell and Carlson Medalist and Maven RS2 waiting for it but I’m going to send it off to have the barrel threaded first. I’m hoping to get 2000 steady, focused, measured practice rounds through it this...
I just use a deep socket chucked in a drill over a propane torch. I tempilaq 3-5 cases and get an average for how many seconds they need to be in the flame and then go to town on the rest. I only ever do 20 cases or so at a time. It would be a bad time to do hundreds that way.

No, keep the load as is. The brass offers little to no resistance while being fire formed to the chamber so that post-fired volume is what you’re working with whether it’s fire formed or full length sized.

Depends on a lot of things. Do you full length size or neck size? Do you anneal? How hot is the load? How did the primers feel when you seated them?

Thanks for all your help fellas. I’m just gonna keep shooting them and keep an eye on things as usual. If I get a case cut open I’ll post a picture for the curious but I’m on the road the next few days so it won’t be soon.

Agreed. Also for the record I did all my measurements above on a full length sized case because I don’t keep any factory ammo on hand. Could the die reflect the excess head space or is it definitely the chamber? I was thinking of just buying a no-go gauge but it’s such a one time tool for a...
I’m going to size a fresh batch of cases and see if the ring appears on the first firing. The reamer catching a chip sounds very probable. There is not a case that has this mark anywhere but in this exact spot. I might dissect a case tomorrow and see what the inside looks like. Is this something...
This is cool. So I put a piece of masking tape that measures 0.005” on the case head. I cut out a .308 caliber circle with a spare 30-06 case and used that as my circle, so it doesn’t go all the way to the edge of the case head but it covers most of it. Bolt closed fine. Added a piece. Still...
The rifle is a stock Winchester Model 70 in .280 Rem. I haven’t bumped the shoulder and only full sized them for the first firing. I don’t keep strict record of how many firings the bass has so <5 is an educated guess. It’s absolutely in the single digits. The mark goes all the way around. I...
I’ve never fired a batch of brass enough to wear it out so I just want to confirm what I’m looking at. This brass has always been neck sized. Less than five firings. What do y’all think?

I gotta say, this forum never ceases to amaze me. Someone can start a thread about a 100 year old cartridge basically saying “the .270 is a cool round, discuss” and we still to this day can fill pages with cool stories and anecdotes about an old cartridge that has probably been talked about to...
I can’t even imagine that situation much less speculate on what I would do. The bear was on the guide so the client probably felt like he shouldn’t/couldn’t fire. Do you hang around and try to shout the bear off and risk getting killed too? I have no grizz experience or training so I don’t want...
