    H-4831sc, The Zero Use Powder

Althought I shoot a different set of cartridges - 270, 6.5x55, 6.5x284, 260 30-08 - my experiance with H4831 mirrors Dr Mike. I don`t always find it giving the very best load but, it always is right up close and never truely a bad choice.

    .243 brass to .22-250 brass

You can`t change the brass geometry with out changing the chamber. You`re rifle is designed to use SAAMI spec brass and any lenghtening or other changes will make a wildcat cartridge out of it. I`d forget the lands if you can`t reach them, and seat the bullet 1 caliber (.224") deep in the case...

    Still Confused About Bore Cleaning?

I hate to say it but, JB is abrasive. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1160 ... G_COMPOUND I used it in the past and still use Remingtons 40X which is also abrasive and was in the past called "Rem Clean" and is produced by the same company https://www.us-products.com/borepaste/ They are both...

    Still Confused About Bore Cleaning?

A shot of WipeOut foam left over night then patched out, and the bore lightly oiled if storing is all you need. Wipe Out has a oil base and protects the bore some alone, but I like to be sure if I`m useing the rifle in the next week or so. There no longer is a need to run a brush or patch after...

    Help 6.5X55 & 130gr Scirocco

I`ve never loaded that specific bullet but, 47gr of R22 with a Hornady 129gr SP makes one very accurate and hard hitting load in my Swede. R22 or H4831 work well with 125gr Noslers and 140 gr Sierra BTSP or 140gr Nosler Custom Comp bullets also. Either of these two powders would be my choice as...

    LEE press broke

I`m a bit suprised, but very happy to hear they are improving their customer service and standing behind their product better then in the past. Two thumbs up to Lee! :)

    Bullet measurements

I`ve found by accident that although very close, the hole some comparators isn`t the same from tool to tool, even the same brand. This means the tool contacts the ogive at a slightly different spot and voids any direct comparison if the same tool isn`t used. Also I have no loose bullets of...

    LEE press broke

Yep, if it`s less then 2 yr old otherwise they will fix it for 1/2 the $ of a new one. From Lees web site http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/faq/index.cgi One big reason I like a couple other brands over Lee......

    Peeling copper off the bullet

Max case lgt for the 243 is 2.045" Your brass may be too long for the chamber and pinching the bullet. Unless you`ve a custom chamber I doubt very much the necks are too thick to release the bullet. most factory chambers are loose as a .....

    Age old question about col

Some companies put leades in their chambers you need the Hubble telescope to find. Whby is one. Their leads are ~0.5" long. The leads also move foreward as the throat erodes and a older rifle with a large rd count behind it will appear to be unreachable at some point. I try to start load...

Winchester model 94 (the best deal ever!)

I`m a little biased but, go for the rifle! The M94 is a great little woods rifle, and the 32spcl is a fine deer cartridge. I speak from experiance. I shot my 1st deer with a early 30`s vintage M94 in 32spcl. The gun was originally my grandfathers and has been passed on to me by my dad. All 3 of...

    Forster Press and Die

My experiance exactly except I don`t load the 300. Forster FL sizers have the expander button at the top of the stem. Be sure it is properly adjusted and isn`t in the neck area of the case when the case is fully in the die. The RCBS lube has worked fairly well for me in the distant past but...

    Need light load: 6.5x55 Swede

I know you said 120-140 gr bullets but you might want to look at Noslers 100 gr partition. It was designed for the 260 Rem which is a ballistic twin to the Swede and with a starting load will give extreemly low recoil. I have used the 100 gr ballistic tip in mine with Varget and it was very...

    Powder burn rate

If you check the powder companies "burn charts" you`ll find they vary for each other too in some cases. Powders will swap places at times and I`ve even seen them move a place or two in direction. I like to think of the burn charts as a place to find an alterative powder for one I can`t find or...

    Neck Sizing Dies

I too neck size on occasion, I prefer Lee collet dies but there is nothing wrong with RCBS, Redding, etc. I find runout to be better on average with full lenght sizing though, and like to minimally FL size my brass more then neck size. Run a search and you should come up with a few threads on...

lock nut replacement on RCBS dies

All dies and presses today use a 7/8x14 thread, with the exception of one of the Dillon presses which takes a die unique to it. Redding, RCBS, Lee, Hornady, Lyman, Forster all are the same thread.

    Re-working loaded brass

I`ve done it more then once. Take it slow leave the decapping stem out of the die so it can vent if needed. As long as trimming isn`t needed I don`t see any problem with what you want to do.

HORNADY... I would have expected better

If these were sold as Hornady 1st quality and not 2nds I`d call the manufacture and gripe. They have been good to me with questions and help with data when I`ve called I believe they`ll stand behind their product if it wasn`t sold a factory seconds..
