    Turret press vs. single stage

I've never had a turret press, but it is Handy and a bit quicker when I have two single stage presses mounted on the bench. One for sizing and one for seating. That may be another option if you are not wild about getting a turret press.

    Tikka wood stock models?

Preacher, I have a T3 lite with plastic stock in 308 and T3 walnut hunter in 30-06. Both guns consistently shoot 1/2-3/4" groups easily at 100 yards. The 30-06 wood stock has a generously free floated barrel channel. I would never worry about stock warpage or stock interference in my...

    A shout out to Lee.

I'm a Lee fan too. I have given away most of my RCBS dies. I do need to try the factory crimp die this year as I've heard good things about it. I don't use all Lee products, but I sure like their dies and dippers too. I also really like Lee's modern reloading second edition manual. It is...

    VX- Freedom scope....????

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/48973 ... icle-matte Street prices are a bit less than retail. The 3-9 x 40 lists for $199 on Midway. My buddy's old Vari X II was bent during a fall this past muzzleloader season. Leupold sent him a new VX Freedom as a replacement. I got to handle it and...

    10-shot load development, 30-06, H4350, 180 Accubond

Well done. Looks like you are well on your way to an excellent all purpose load for your '06.

    rifle scopes, old v new

My friend had an older VariX II 3-9x40 mounted on his muzzleloader this year and he slipped and fell on it bending the tube. Leupold sent him a brand new Freedom series as a replacement. I got to look though it. It's quite an upgrade. Better optics, finger adjustable turrets that click, and...

    243 and 30 H&H range day

Nice shooting Fotis with both guns! Glad to see they are working out. I think both Boyd's and Richards microfit make stocks for the XL 7, if you decide it's a keeper. It sure shoots like a keeper so far I'd say. I can't remember if the synthetic stock makers have one for the XL 7.

CZ Model 455 .22 LR review

Polaris, Check out rimfirecentral.com. They have a huge section on CZ, but also if you scroll down to Other gun brands, you'll find discussions on your JW-15. Someone there will know. I have no idea if they shared tooling, or if the Chinese we're just that good at copying someone else's...

    Win 42 Junkyard Rescue

Keep in mind I'm no gunsmith, but my understanding of the bluing process is that the deeper better bluing almost always comes from a very good metal polishing job by either the gunsmith or original manufacturer prior to the bluing process. Your gun will require some of that I believe, and may...

    Win 42 Junkyard Rescue

Get a bottle of Brownell's Oxpho Blue and blue it yourself. That would be the cheap way to go. I did a partial re-blue on a Mauser sporter I picked up last year. Follow the directions and watch a few YouTube vids. It takes several applications. I used a heat gun to heat the metal up, as...

CZ Model 455 .22 LR review

I bought a Zastava CZ99 (not the same company as your CZ) a couple years ago and put my old Leupold 2-7 on it. I fell back in love with the 22. So much fun to shoot a nice accurate bolt 22. I shot it more last year by far than my center fire rifles and for very little money. Your CZ455 is...

New Sako 85 replaces the Tikka T3

Very nice Earle! I have no doubt based on my two Tikka's that the Sako will shoot well. I believe they are produced in the same factory. Every Sako new or used I've ever picked up just seems to be a quality, well built firearm. The Sako is definitely an upgrade in certain areas to the Tikka...

308 Win 125 NAB Deer Load Suggestions

IMR4895 shot really well in one of my 308's when I was developing loads for the 125gr BT and the 125gr Sierra PH. I wouldn't overlook those bullets either given your velocity from the 308 will be around 3000 fps. I haven't tested mine on game yet, but I wouldn't hesitate to use either bullet...

    6mm or 25-06??

Fotis, a Ruger No. 1B w/ 26" barrel in .243 is a sweet gun, maybe not a typical WY truck gun, but it would work well for you.

New stock for the Howa 6.5 CM

I'd say you're good to go with any of those loads, the GMX being the odd one out. Sure like that stock color. I got the green Medalist for my 280, but kinda wished I'd gotten the tan like yours. I couldn't get GMX's to group in my 280 either, but used them for a couple seasons as they were...

    30-06, some numbers

Guy, No one is supposed to question the greatness and superior ballistics of the 6.5 CM. You're like the little boy who told the emperor he was naked, rather than compliment his new clothes. I'm sure the Credmoore is a great round, and someday I'd like to have one, or it's near ballistic...

Looking for input on 30-06 loads

Sounds like you have some good loads developed already. Frankly, any of them would work, but I always pick accuracy first. That 150 Barnes load would really be a laser and they are a heck of a good stout bullet. Yes, I too think 165's in both my 308 and 30-06's, but that 200 Accubond load of...
