    Your 25-06 powder?

Retumbo has worked very well for me with 100 grain and heavier bullets.

    CZ-USA 550 American in 6.5x55 Swede?

This gun shoots even better than it looks. If you do buy the CZ do yourself a big favor and clean it before you shoot it. I mean scrub the barrel. I have never seen so much yuck come out of a new barrel as I did this CZ.

    Rifle stock finishes

I'm getting a lot of mileage out of this picture. I refinished the stock on this CZ. The factory finished was stripped with two coats of ZipStrip in real time using a brass brush to clean out the checkering, then sanded with fine emory paper. I went for the in-the-wood finish and hand...

Different ring options for CZ550 rifles??

You might consider Millet windage adjustable bases and rings. You can pick them up at Midway USA. Some people (including me) run out of windage adjustment when mounting a scope on the 550 action. I tried a Burris Signature (not enough adjustment) but a Burris Fullfield II worked fine.

    CZ-USA 550 American in 6.5x55 Swede?

This is my CZ 550 Full Stock in 243 Winchester. I chose the 243 over the 6.5 X 55 because I like the removable magazine. It's a great gun, you will be happy with a CZ if you buy one and the 6.5 X 55 is an equally great cartridge.

    Fireball gets a mod

50 grain is a good choice but be aware Fireball barrels usually have a slow twist 1:14 or slower. I've shot 50 grain bullets with good success but the recommended weight is 50 or less. The slow twist won't stabilize longer, heavier bullets.

    Fireball gets a mod

That would be an excellent choice. I remember when they came out around 2001 or so. Still a few to be had new in the box. My opinion is it's a grossly under appreciated choice for a varmint gun. No recoil at all and you can see the hits through the scope. Lil'Gun loads are listed at 3300...

    Fireball gets a mod

You bet it's a shooter. I have three loads worked up, six if you multiply times two because I use two different bullets with the same powder. I like both Nosler 40 grain Ballistic Tips and Sierra 40 grain BlitzKing bullets. Both shoot to the same point of aim. I use Reloader #7, IMR 4198...

    Fireball gets a mod

The cartridge is great. I wanted a small capacity 22 caliber but was skeptical about Hornet case life for reloading. The Fireball case is very robust and a step up from the Hornet and easy to reload. Powders like Hodgdon Lil'Gun and RL#7 really boot ballistic performance, especially Lil'Gun...

    Fireball gets a mod

Hope this works. This is my Rem 700 Light Varmint Stainless Fluted 221 Fireball sporting a new Boyd's Pepper Laminate Thumbhole Varmint/Target stock.

    Help me select .243 dies.

You might also share the load you're trying for your 243. I've had excellent results with IMR 7828, H4831SC, and Retumbo. Of the three, I like Retumbo the best with 100 and 105 grain bullets. My lightest load uses 85 grain bullets and H4831. I still in load development with a 70 grain TNT...

    Help me select .243 dies.

The set you described is the way to go. I have exactly that for my 25-06 and 243 Winchester. I wish I could get the same combo for my 221 Fireball but the LEE and Forster dies are not available. It makes a difference, especially if you shoot the same gun a lot. IMO even with a straight...

    .45-70 Marlin load recommendation?

I've tried a number of different bullets and powders in my Guide Gun. The go-to load is 58 grains of Hodgdon Varget under a Hornady 350 grain Round Nose bullet using CCI 200 primers. I can pack more Varget into the case but accuracy sufferes. Hodgdon lists 60 grains as the max load. It's a...

    Any Fireball shooters out there?

I saw some primer flattening with Lil'Gun too and backed off a couple of tenths. It's a good performer in my gun as well. I have two pounds of it to shoot up as well as a pound of IMR 4198. Have you ever tried H110? I've been experimenting with primers too. I have CCI BR4, Federal 205, Rem...

    Any Fireball shooters out there?

Mine sports a 4-14 X 44mm Zeiss Conquest. Seems like a good fit to the gun. Range practice targets are 1" diameter orange circles or bottle caps. Pulling down on any critter after honing your skills on these tiny targets is pretty easy. Crows look like target backers in the scope. I've...

    Any Fireball shooters out there?

The newest addition to the gun cabinet is a Remington 700 Light Varmint Stainless Fluted (LVSF) in 221 Fireball. I wanted a small case capacity 22 caliber gun and the Fireball is quite nice. The only thing I don't like about the gun is the stock, the synthetic stock is flimsy and has got to...

    Accurizing a Ruger No. 1

My Ruger is a #1V model in 25-06. It was an inconsistent shooter when I first bought it. I sanded out the barrel channel and put a very firm 1mm (.040") rubber shim in two places, one at the front most part of the forearm and the other at the action. The rubber pad came with a self adhesive...

    Loads for a .243

I haven't yet tried Nosler bullets in my 243 but a very accurate load for my CZ550 Full Stock has been Sierra and/or Speer 100 grain bullets over 47 grains of IMR7828 using CCI 200 primers. I get super accuracy in my Ruger #1V 25-06 with Nosler 100 grain ballistic tip bullets over a full case...

    What is wrong here??

I second Rick's suggestion to try the FL sizer die with the expander ball removed. If the inside of the neck has excessive friction the expander ball can pull the base of the neck up a small amount causing the problem you are experiencing. Lots of good stuff above. I think the message is be...
