    Primers "falling out"...

Did you uniform your primer pockets? If you did it is possible you may have been too aggressive with the cutting tool and opened the diameter slightly more than needed. I've found the uniforming tool is not very forgiving if you are slightly off axis during use.

how do you clean and prep your brass?

I don't post much on this forum but lurk around a little. Thought I'd jump in on this one because I think a little extra time with brass prep goes a long way for improved accuracy. FWIW I only hand load for rifles. Using inexpensive hand tools this is my routine. I chuck up a Lee lock stud in...

7 mm Rem Mag 175 grain and 160 grain Partition with IMR 4831

My go-to powders for the 7mm Rem Mag are Retumbo and IMR 7828. Both are compressed loads, just never got 4831 to work for me.

I think the Nikon Monarch UCC is the best value in the market today.

    Need a .243 Win

I'm jumping in on this a little late (been out of pocket for awhile) but my recommendation would be a CZ 550 Full Stock (FS). I own one and it is winning favor over many of my other guns. It didn't break the bank, is highly accurate, sufficiently heavy that recoil is not a problem, it's just...

My only Remington 700BDL that's been a bummer.

Try a really slow powder like Retumbo or IMR 7828 with 100 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets and a magnum primer.

Moose(head) taken in Ohio with 25-06 Ballistic Tip

These Moose trophys  were taken with my 25-06 Rem (Ruger #1V) and 243 Win (CZ550 Full Stock) on the 100 yard range in Spring Valley Ohio. The handloads for the 25-06 were Nosler 100 grain Ballistic Tip bullets. The 243 was Remington factory ammo 100 grain Core Lock bullets. You can see...

    Nosler Partition .243

Pop - Don't see too many people considering IMR 7828 for the 243. I picked up a pound to try with the 243 and 25-06 as I favor slower powders that allow a slightly compressed load. Is the Fed 215M primer equivalent to the Winchester Large Rifle Magnum Primer (WLRMP)? The manuals suggest a...

    What's your best reloading tip?

Picked this up from another forum. Run the flat portion of the shaft of an electric toothbrush (minus the brush) up and down the side of the cartridge case to settle the powder for compressed loads. It allows you to get more powder in the case.

    Best Varmit rifle/Caliber out there

Might be considered nit picky but........ 17 caliber is a 177" diameter bullet - cartidges are few 20 caliber is a .204" diameter bullet - the 204 Ruger is the only cartride I know of 22 caliber is a .224" diameter bullet - cartridges are many 24 caliber is a .243" diameter bullet - cartridges...

    25-06 troubles......

Interesting comment....I started with Hodgdon Extreme powders and seldom deviate because I don't have a lot of the problems others experience. I recently "strayed" and bought a jug of IMR 7828 just to try something different. 7828 is the powder Hodgdon converted to the Extreme family and what...

    25-06 troubles......

I don't shoot Barnes bullets buy you might weigh all the bullets you intend to load in one session and make sure they are the same weight. I was having trouble with some Hornady SST bullets in my 300 win mag and discovered the 180 grain bullet went from a low of 173 grain to 181 grains, all...

    NOsler BT 100gr 25-06

Glad to see others use slow powders with this bullet. Folks usually seemed surprised when I claim great results with Hodgdon Retumbo powder and the 100 grain ballistic tip bullet but it is super accurate in my Ruger #1V. Not long ago I shot my first ever 200 yard, 5-shot, cover with a dime...

    25-06 varmit load help

Here's another vote for Nosler's ballistic tip bullets. They're super accurate in my Ruger #1V.

Is reloading a dying past time?

Wouldn't you love to see a commercial on prime time TV sponsored by Redding or RCBS promoting their handloading equipment. If there is a drop off you'd have to blame marketing. Advertising in the gun rags is one method of exploiting an already captive buyer group. They need to branch out to...

    Just saying Hey!

New to this board but not new to reloading. I reload several cartridges - 300 Win Mag, 7mm Rem Mag, 45-70, 25-06, and 243 Win. Looking forward to participating in the banter.
