Okay, guys, where are those new 6.5 Accubonds? We are running out of time to get loads worked up for this season, and I really would prefer not to use the Hornady 129 gr Spire Points...At least let us know when they will be available!
I am sure it is only a coincidence, but my groups with the red tipped accubonds have usually been smaller than the groups with the white tipped accubonds! It also really confuses people at the range when they see my .270WSM cases with red tipped bullets. Of course, I also have the silver...
You can certainly try neck sizing your WSM cartridge, but most shooters have had very little success chambering neck sized brass in their WSM's. Most have to full full length size (like a half turn cam over on the press) to ensure reliable chambering. My Model 70 Super Shadow in .270WSM is in...
Well, I talked to Adam at Shooters Pro Shop at Nosler on Monday and asked him about the 6.5 mm Accubonds and when they might be available. He said they should be shipping them to distributors soon, since they had just sent the first 5000 bullets over to Nosler Custom Ammunition. I assume they...
Good question. I may just have to stop by the factory and ask them in person, since I am Bend bound this Sunday for a few days of vacation with my wife and two younger sons. Of course, I will have to hit the Shooters Pro Shop too, and stock up on a few "seconds". Hopefully they will talk to...
I am not employed by Nosler, but historically, they have always introduced the first Accubond in the heaviest weight that can be reliably stabilized in factory twist barrels. i.e. the 180 gr in .30 cal, the 160 gr in 7mm, the 140 gr in the .270, and the 110 gr in .25 cal. The logic being to...
Since the .260 Rem is very similar to my 6.5x55, I suggest trying IMR-4350 with the 120 or 125 gr bullets. Sadly, my Swede hates lighter bullets, even the awesome looking 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. It does like those 129 gr bullets that come in red boxes, which really annoys me. I sure hope...
Probably because some shooters have reported improved accuracy in their .270 Win after switching to Magnum primers. Others may hunt in extremely cold weather, and like the added assurance of a magnum primer touching off their load. In my .270WSM, I get better accuracy with the Federal 210...
Welcome to the forum, Dick. If I was restricted to IMR powder in the .243 Win, I would try IMR-4350 first, should be especially good with the 95 gr Ballistic Tip, and IMR-4064 second, which should work well with the 70 gr Ballistic Tip. Of course, you can load the 70 gr with 4350 and probably...
a 6.5 Accubond is great news! I expected it to be a 130 gr, leaves a bit of room between the 125 gr and 140 gr Partitions, and should knock the Hornady 129 gr SP off my reloading room shelf. Hope they come out soon! I may have to make a trip to Bend later this summer and see if begging in...
Have you tried the 140 gr Accubonds in your .270? I have had some spectacular groups with that bullet in my .270WSM, using Vihtavuori N-165 powder and Federal 210 primers. I have some 150 gr Partitions, but haven't loaded any of them yet. I did try some 150 gr Ballistic Tips, and my 3 shot...
If you are concerned about the accuracy, go for some Accubonds. 99% of people who try them rave about their accuracy and performance. In my .270WSM, the 140 gr Accubond is the most accurate bullet I have used. And the shipping at Shooter's Pro Shop is a bargain. If you don't believe me, try...
I just picked up a new Stevens 200 in .243 and am going to start working up some loads for it soon. In reviewing my old .243 loading data, it would seem that I had some pretty good results with IMR-4064 and the Nosler 70 gr BT and the Sierra 75 gr HP. I bought a box of the new 80 gr Ballistic...
Or, Accurate 2015. I used to use the 2015 BR with the 50 gr Ballistic Tips for awesome accuracy, good velocity (around 3400 fps) and spectacular terminal performance on ground squirrels. Impressive....
I know that this has been asked before, but I am trying to choose between some options that haven't been discussed. At least, my searches didn't come up with anything.
I am wanting to acquire a heavy barrel varmint/target rifle. I am a bang for the buck guy (cheap) and am trying to decide...
I also had a shorter barreled 30-06 (20 inches) and didn't have great results with the typical suggestions of IMR or H-4350. I had better results with IMR-4895, IMR-4064 and Accurate 2700 with the 150 gr bullets. With the 165 and 180, my rifle preferred Reloder 22. Maybe you shoulc try one of...
Well, it sure would be more awesome than Sierra's 90 gr "flying ashtray" hollow point. And either a Ballistic Tip or Accubond lightweight .277 bullet would offer a better ballistic coefficient and more length than Speer's TNT or 100 gr Hollow Point. I would prefer a Nosler product over...
I would take the Tikka in a heartbeat. But then Tikkas are quite a bit more money than a Vanguard. The Vanguard is a Howa 1500 dressed up a bit, and it isn't a bad rifle, just that the Tikka is a Sako dressed down a bit and is a higher quality rifle.
Good luck on your varmint safari. Be sure to post your results. Are the squirrels out already around Baker? I thought it is still a little early. The weather forecast isn't too promising up this way, but maybe it will be better further south where you are headed. Hope you all have a great time.
