In all honesty I stopped buying reloading manuals. Nowadays I cross reference Hodgdon, Nosler, Speer, and /or Alliant all of which offers online data free. I'll still go to my old manuals occasionally if needed.
If you had a short action with a Wyatt's mag box you could definitely make maximum performance out of a thoated 270wsm that the 6.8 westerner could do. The wsm case is bigger to begin with.
Good accuracy!
I'm sure you know that you are NOT top gear with this bullet weight. However accuracy is king and your barrel will have a long life, and I'm sure your wife probably isn't as recoil numb as I am,lol.
Good job.
My advice is try a replacement. As FOTIS mentioned the Accurate version of imr4895 is A2495, and is cheaper.
Several years ago the number one powder across the benchrest world for 6BR Norma was Varget. Then one guy shot the smallest 600 yard group in an IBS sanctioned match with H4895 and no...
I grew up with wood heat. My dad and me cut the wood and I spit it amd carried it in after school.
I moved out and went to college ... came home to visit the first winter and there was a LP gas tank in the back yard! Guess I was cheap labor, lol.
This is a 'universal load' if there ever was one. It's worked in a couple of 300wm barrels for me. Depending on the brand of brass ( case capacity) it could be 74.5 to 75.5 gr of Reloder 22.
If RL22 isn't available try 79.5 to 80.5gr of H1000 with 180gr bullets.
I was playing with cheap Hornady 155gr and Ar-Comp today, might have struck gold.
Shot at 200 yards from a bull bag, orange dot is 3/4".

This is by far the most accurate lr308 I've ever owned. My first one took 4 barrels to get this good.
Thanks, what is your loads and barrel length for those? Sounds like the 7 wby could best 7mm RM by a good margin with the same pressures even though they're about the same capacity.
I should have mentioned, there's no danger of mixing brass because I dont have a 270wby right now.
I've had two 7mm Remington magnums, and have a 28 nosler, and 7mm wsm currently.
My 28 Nosler is pushing 175gr Bergers at 3190.
My 7wsm is shooting 150gr fast! ( I don't want to say how fast).
my past 7mm Rems accuracy loads with 162 to 168gr was always right at 3000 fps. They could go faster...
I agree.
I used to use Devcon 10110 now I'm all MarineTex. I think it's more user friendly, it stays where you put it and it doesn't go bad in a year like Devcon.
I sighted her in at 200 yards.
I think this is terrific for absolutely no load development at all. I guessed at a mid pressure load for Reloder 15. The imr4064 really shot well though. Not one malfunction. Gas setting is on number two.
These dots are 3/4".
Edit, these are pulled 175 smk from...
She's set up and ready for the range tomorrow.
The melonite oxide was still apparent in the chamber and bore, so I used Flitz and JB paste to polish the chamber and JB scrubbed the barrel. After cleaning is looks outstanding in the borescope.
