Well, before I could cancel my for sale Ad, a Dad wanted it for his young adult son! I sold it! Last minute too, I was just about to take it "back" to my Smith! He makes ( I have used them since the late '90s) a 3 Port 90 deg Baffle type. Its very effective. I like them on varmint/coyote rifle...
I'm taking the rifle back over to my smith. He makes/installs I have had on other big boomers, from Varmint Rifles to elephants guns. Its a 90 deg, 3 Port Baffle type. If that isn't enough ( and I'm sticking with the 165-168 TTSX to start) then I'll try a different type.
I'm just not ready to "accept" too much limitations on this shoulder. I'm going to have a good brake put on this 300 Wby and give it a chance. I have electric ears, so don't care really how loud it will be. Don't care if someone believes " I'm overgunned by "having" to brake it either"! :)
Changed my mind, gonna keep it for now. I'm not ready to just "accept" my shoulder limitation. I'm going to try a good muzzlebrake first. I have electric ears, that always helps.
Yes, I'm still checking around, asking questions. Its been over 23 yrs since I played with the 40 Cals and above. Back then I had a "maybe" opportunity in South Africa to cull a Buffalo and maybe take a lioness. It didn't work out. I played with several , I like them all, but heaviest I...
Mod 700 BDL, factory 24" in 300 Wby. Bedded into aftermarket synthetic stock. All metal and mounts Parkerized. Only 28 rds fired in it. Trigger adj professionlley to a sweet, clean break (not too light/heavy) Decelerator pad, no brake. Plus a new box of Weatherby 180 TTSX ammo ($110 value) $...
Well, well, well! After a long discussion with the Physical Therapist today...I decided NOT to chance it! Falling back to 30-06/270 level (with good Pads, i.e. LimbSaver for now) gonna sell the 300 Wby and stuff. Its OK, for the way I hunt anymore, thats more than plenty! I could of killed 4 of...
I'm getting my new to me Mod 700 BDL (factory chambered) 300 Wby braked and a TT Trigger put in. I went to Walkers Earbuds to use in the Field when using a braked rifle. I know the brake will reduce the felt recoil, but was just wondering what any other braked 300 Wby shooters thought of the...
Looks like that N560 gives good speed with less pressure, if one can get that much in the case. I sure do like this N560 doc, thanks for the Tip years back!
I did call the Smith working on my Mod 700 in 30-06 to put a LimbSaver pad on instead. I had caught him in time. I've had them before on other rifles, very soft.
Thanks sir. The end that tears off the elbow does that to you. You still have one up at the shoulder working, so I can use my arm, just not in the full range.
I had read that damage could occur from the Recoil. I too have about 80-90% strength in the arm. So weight just has to be handled carefully. I sling on left shoulder anyhow. If you look at an anatomical drawing its the tendon on the inside of the shoulder that attaches the bicep to the shoulder...
Thanks Pard. I have quite a bit of motion range, just tender. I figure I will also start wearing my PAST Recoil Shield at the Range. Along wiith the brake/good pad I should be fine. From what I can ascertain, any damage is from "prolonged, accumulative recoil, i.e. 200-400 rds of Trap etc." I...
I developed this (the Long Head tore, resulting in the bicep balling up into what is called "Popeye Arm") back in early summer. I have shot my Kimber 270 all summer, no issues. Then shot the 338 RPM (its braked) sparingly, with no issues. But I decided to go to Sporter Weight rifles again. I'm...
