    Original Burris Fullfield Scope

I am sure you are correct. I bought mine used, but have been pleased with it's quality. My Pentax was also purchased used and ditto on performance for it as well. Although it may not have quite the eye relief of some of my low-power Leupolds, it's better than any of the 1" tube low powered...

    Original Burris Fullfield Scope

This is the Burris I have. It's a matte finish (obviously) and the ocular bell is marked: "Fullfield 1.75-5 Made in USA". And like the nearly identical Pentax version, it also has a slightly larger objective "bell". The reticle is a duplex type and nicer to my eye than a regular Leupold duplex...

    Scout Rifles

Not sure just what caliber you're looking at getting, but I wouldn't mind having either of these "Scout rifles" http://www.gunsinternational.com/Ruger- ... =100269248 http://www.gunsinternational.com/Ruger- ... =100269252

    I got the Zeiss today

I agree with your opinion, I have three Zeiss Conquests and twenty-plus Leupolds of various levels and 30+ scopes of other various manufacture. My three clearest scopes....my Conquests. Congrats!

    .270 Winchester...SCORE!

Thank you Sir. The other side has lots of contrast, much more than this side.

338 Federal and Federal 200 grain Trophy Copper

My Hawkeye shot 200gr Fusions at sub MOA from the first time it was at the range. I cannot imagine a problem with ammo that shoots like that (mine stayed there!). No elk hunting in the cards for Ed, but my 9.3x74 will be #1 in the blocks for Maine bear time in a month or so.

    Nice hog, welcome!

    Original Burris Fullfield Scope

Mine has a slightly larger objective bell, like the Pentax in my picture. Labeled as Fullfield

    .270 Winchester...SCORE!

Very pretty rifle!! My RSM in '06 has a much lighter piece of Circassian. Here it is with another rare M77, a tang safety in .284 Win. Only ever seen 2 of them.

    Original Burris Fullfield Scope

I have one of those older Burris scopes, bought used about 6 or 7 yrs ago. I had it atop a Nicely done M98 in 8X57 and shot some warm loads through it; ~2600 FPS with a 196gr bullet. It's now on top of a M88 Carbine in .308. I had tried to mount it on top of a Marlin in .356, but it didn't agree...

    M700 Classic .300 H&H

Gorgeous looking rifle there! I've owned a couple of M700 Classics and the 700 Classics are prolly my favorite version of the M700. Good Luck with it!

    Decided on new rifle

Thanks to all that stopped by to comment! I finally decided on a SS Hawkeye that I found NIB on GunsAmerica. I will initially leave the gorgeous  Ruger Tupperware stock on it and see how it shoots like that. At this point, I'm thinking of switching out to a B & C synthetic or, if I can...

    Decided on new rifle

I'm just back from a family vacation where we had a 300# (est) black bear walk by our cabin in the Smokies as I cooked some killer rib-eyes. Very good primer for my Maine bear hunt, 6 weeks, hence. I had a messge, when I returned that someone was wanting my Encore, which would then allow me to...

Do you spend more on firearms or hunting trips

I ended up in a place that has good hunting, but pretty much, only for deer. Most of my "formative" years were spent in places someone else decided I needed to be. I have no regrets, however. I have spent a lot of $$ on guns over the years and only after explaining to my (very understanding)...

    Making the .375 ruger POP!!!

If you want "POP" along with weather protection, you should simply prepare the stock and then spray (wipe on) a poly finish that matches your "gloss" wants. Wayyyy simple.

Rifles in the field this hunting season

I'd simply like to thank you for those additional pics. I hope you might understand how a rifle guy, like me, might simply "have a thing" for one of those rifles. I understand your earlier mention of it being a "fair weather rifle" as I own more than a few of those, myself (count among them my...

Rifles in the field this hunting season

Sure would enjoy a couple more pics of that M88/.358  (Just sayin'). That's a great rifle and the M88/.358s are going out of sight, price-wise. Today they will bring a higher price than a Deluxe M71. I sure wish my .308/M88 was the bigger bore, but it is what it is. I like your combo of...

    Death of the Marlin

The serial number position was changed on Marlins before they made their move to Illion. There were never any .450s or .444s produced in Illion, all are Ct. builds. The .338ME is also a casualty in their newest brochure. I think the .338ME was the best idea for a lever gun to come down the pike...

    Death of the Marlin

I bought two Marlins in 2007; an 1895 and a .308MX. Both were finely finished and accurate rifles. I bought an 1895M NIB made in '08 and immediately sent it back for terrible fitted furniture. It was back to me in one month and was done right this time. I now also own an '06 1895G (slight...

Opinions on Brightest low-medium power scope u

Naaaaaaa, you wouldn't, as it's WAY big!! That's why Ed always goes back to Leupy for his lever guns; light and hold together. Perhaps not the best & brightest, but they fit the guns. I'm kinda dunb like that.
