BAR's have a reputation of being 75-150 fps slower than their bolt counterparts with like length barrels with similar loads. Browning will acknowledge it. Whether its the semi-auto action or the barrel, who knows.

Therefore, you suggested a load starting ~35K psi, ~76.5% fill and speed ~2520 fps? I agree that's conservative, way conservative. Some might even think explosive with slow powders since it is ~16% grains...

Higher pressures thus higher temps will stress barrel metal more than lower pressures and temps no matter which era the barrel is made. Just a matter of degree (pun intended) with better metallurgy.
Are there any calibrated/scientific data points comparing the newer barrels to older ones. Or...
