Any plans for a new rifle in 2025?

Every time I get excited about adding a few more to the herd, an appliance takes a dump or a vehicle needs tires etc. Been remodeling the house too. Insulation, plywood, hardware, paint, et al really cuts into a fellows folding money. I bought a Stoeger Uplander 20 gauge SxS a while back...

    Wyoming considers tag price hikes

I have several points for Wyoming in both Antelope and Deer. But like you I am considering just cutting my losses and saying forget it. Like everyone else I bought points, saving up the necessary minimum to draw and expected to draw. Thanks to point creep and tag reductions we did not draw last...

    .243 85 grain Partition

As others have stated, the 100 grain Partition is the bullet you want for the parameters you have described. Over the years I’ve guided a couple of younger hunters who used a .243 flinging the 100 grain Partition to take down cow elk. All their shots were under 250 yards and broadside. I cannot...

    Wyoming considers tag price hikes

Again, hunting is becoming way too expensive for regular folks. I don’t care what the reasons may be for raising prices, the reality is, it becomes increasingly more expensive to hunt for an increasingly worst experience on public land. I just hate seeing this all go to heck.

    New Thumper

I want a No.1 something fierce but I would probably use a .220 Swift or .30-06 Springfield more than anything.

    Wyoming considers tag price hikes

https://www.facebook.com/share/19DuozceTu/?mibextid=wwXIfr Check it out for yourselves. I’m getting so tired of hunting turning into a “Rich, Elites only” club. Hiking the prices by 300-400 percent is nothing other than exclusion.

    Regretful, but necessary

Me too. I think until about 15 years ago they were a pretty good outfit. But I will be damned before I buy WLP new suits and steak dinners with my membership fees. Another once great organization poisoned by bureaucracy. The love of money truly is the root of all evil.

    Rare model 700??

I too have never seen a Sendero 700 thusly configured but the vast majority of my M700 knowledge has come from ADL and BDL variants. All of the Senderos I have handled have been stainless/synthetic combos. Yours is a beautiful rifle in any case, in a spectacular caliber!

Reloading 3 rifles for Elk loads..

Congratulations on your bull and welcome to the forum. This is (thanks to great moderators and members) the best online hunting/shooting forum in existence. You won’t find the bickering and name-calling etc. like you see on other forums. These folks are top notch.

    .22-250 load triumph

The .22-250 Remington and Varget are made for each other! My own Ruger M77 Hawkeye in .22-250 flings the 55 grain Sierra Gameking to 3650 fps from its 22” sporter barrel propelled by Varget. I’ve used this load primarily for chucks and coyotes but would not be afraid to use it for deer or...

    Federal’s 7mm Backcountry

The austere and practical side of me yawns. However the technology now widely in use was once quite experimental as well. I don’t like the thought of having to rely solely upon hot loaded factory ammunition. Especially for minimal ballistic gain. I am not a fan of short barreled rifles in...

    New dress for old girlfriend!

I’d say you’ve got one heck of a rifle there Earle!! My absolute favorite is a standard grade M70 Classic Stainless! Serial number puts it at 1994. I’ve owned it since 2003. It was the first rifle I ever saw with the stainless matte finish and walnut stock. It was love at first sight. I had my...

    Which one?

I dearly love my Marlin Model 39A! But were I to go bolt-action, CZ or Ruger M77 would get the nod.
