I have my work up loads setting on the bench (140gr PT & V-100). I will shoot them in a week or two. If I can find an accurate load at 2850 or over I will be set (22"barrel).
Every thing I have heard says the Rem 1:16 classics will shoot the 250gr Partition very accurately. I went with a 1:14 twist with my shilen barreled 358win so far I am very happy. The 225gr partitions are the lonest bullet I plan to shoot in it.
I use the small pistol measure for my 22-hornet and love it. Works fine for my 221rem FB too.
Two more, the benchrest 0-66grs and the 0-120 are on my list as well as a RCBS 10-10 scale.
Look at the powder bottle adapter if you are looking at one of the smaller measures.
Powders used it it...
TAC 223rem-35rem-358win-35whelen and the like.
H4320
H4350 30-06 & 270win
H4831 270win
I am lost for the magnums so maybe one more slow powder like H1000 inplace of 4831.
Three cartridges come to mind. The 19 Badger, 221Rem Fireball, and the 35 Whelen.
The badger fits in between the K-hornet and the 221 rem for powder capacity and are built on the CZ527 with Custum barrels and custum dies (foster) by james calhoon. They make brass and bullets too. I think the...
I see the advantage of a mag is to reach out further and simply that.
If your 30-06 is not impacting game as you think it should out to 300 yards just get a 35 Whelen and be done with it. All the energy in any bullet will do nothing if it is not transmitted to the game. I will take a larger...
I wonder about that sportsmans warehouse flier. But even if the decimel was moved from $6 to $60 six bucks id still alot. And GM is not known for cheap prices here in MI.
Cabelas will not list the price but they have ammo. In saginaw its keep behide the counter. In their fall catalog they say...
This was from the latest sportsmans ware house flier.
As far back as the sixtys ammo and reloading supplies have not been in short supply untill four years ago, Something has changed.
If we can get some one with a different view in the white house I would love to see sales of surpluse ammo at...
At $60 pluse shipping for 100 rounds of CCI 22lr it would seem any rim fire rifle is now useless due to cost of ammo. And you can not reload them at home.
Hope its a miss print but all other CCI rimfire ammo just gets more costly than the cheepest? mini mag.
The 250gr interlocks, Hot cores, and grandslams are all know performer in the whelen. Thats what they were designed for the whelen. And at 200 yards or less they will be great for trajectory too.
If thats all you can find I would use anyone of them. There tuff yet expand on deer as well as...
If he is fine with the recoil FELT recoil of the 200gr bullet at the superperformance velocity the 225gr will be the same or lower. Thats Felt recoil.
The 225gr bullets like the AB or PT are far better than any of the 200 grainers except the mono types. The PT with a MV of 2450 fps is good for...
My 35rem and 358win are sighted +1" at 100 yards. Because I can calulated hold over better than hold under. Where I use these 200 yards is extreme and 15-30 yards very common. The 358win was sighted in for 200 yards but not now.
Lost a buck last year a 15 yards shot enterted the shoulder blade...
I have been using a Bushnel 15-40 spotting scope that was given to me, and now want to up grade to better glass. Main use is a 100-200 yards bench scope for 22 cal to 35 cal rifles.
I can't spend much over $400 so would this scope work for me? Its a big step up in quality and was hoping it...
No just the sun heating the barrel, I fire three shots just to verify the batch was the same diferent lots of components. I seemed to be off the barrel not from the ground between the 100 yard target. My bench is in direct sun light if its sunny. A nice 8x8 roof is in the works.
My 22's have...
Thanks I look for 300-MP and which bushing to use for it. I also am just learning that maybe I should use 2 1/2" for the best pattern and the big one velocity 1250-1300 fps is doable with 1/2oz loads and 300-MP.
Thought the extra shot in an 11/16oz (3/16oz) would be better but sounds like it...
Note on scopes, my long range big game rig is a 270win with a VXII 2-7 some day I plan on upgrading it to a VX3 2.5-8 just for better glass. I was shooting my 700 SPS Stainless 223 just checking a new batch of my pet load for a safty check. And on a 60 degree day had to back of the 4.5-14x40mm...
I use the Type S neck dies and when the die just touches the shell holder when its top dead center as per instructions, it stops about .030-.050" from the shoulder.
For me in the 35 cal its the 220gr and up excluding the 35rem. I have been using my 358win a lot and have used the 200gr Spire PT and 225gr Hawk and just now loaded up some 225gr PT's to used this year at 2430fps about 80fps over the hawk.
I shoot two bucks with the spire point and one exited...
I have been thinking about the 6x47mm for yotes too some thing to take over where the 223rem leaves of with out the powder consomtion of a 243win. Less effected by wind as the 52grs I am using now.
Whats the practical range with a VX3 4.5-14 LR? I realy do not see shooting over 200 to 350 where...
